Commercial Description:
A true classic. The original pecan beer. The conventional wisdom is that nuts and beer don’t mix. Maybe it’s something about the water here, and maybe it’s just the smooth toasted flavors in Southern Mississippi pecans, but our pecans help make what we consider to be one of the best beers we have ever tasted. We consider pecans to be a perfect addition to this nut brown ale. Smooth and mild with a malty sweetness accentuated by a rich finish. A finely balanced ale destined to become a southern classic.

Thanks to Tyanderso for sending this to be shared and Skyview for being the delivery guy. Brown color with a thin head. Very nutty aroma. Strong malty flavor. Very dry, but not hoppy. Definitely nutty, but I wouldn’t necessarily say pecan specifically.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Butters at the Barrios Nashville tasting. Poured a clear amber color with ruby red highlights and a one finger off white head. The aroma was nuts and caramel. The flavor was caramel and nuts, with a bitter finish. The palate was above average with a crisp mouthfeel, mild carbonation and a medium body.

Bottle at Barrios’ Impromptu Tasting to pop Smitty’s Surly after a couple dudes left. Thanks for the hookup on this beerhawk!. Clear amber brown with wispy offwhite head. Nose is sweet malty and nutty. Flavor is also nutty, and caramel, and sweet potatoes. Some cinamin. Easy for a session beer. Nice.

Courtesy GodOfThunder. Pours a clear, dark, chestnut-amber color with a small, foamy, cream colored head. Settling quickly to a wispy film, the froth leaves minimal, spotty lacing behind. The aroma is quite nutty, as advertised, with toasted pecans emerging from a nice malt base of caramel, brown sugar, and maple. A hint of earthy hoppiness is in there as well, lending balance to the nose. Flavors follow suit, caramel and brown sugar coated pecans working nicely, along with a dash of vanilla. There’s a bit of roast in there, which, combined with the mildly earthy hops, balances things out quite well. Medium bodied and smooth, but lightly syrupy. Finishes semi-dry. This is a tasty little session brown.

Sampled from 12-oz bottle that was shared by tytoanderso. Pours a semi-clear reddish amber brew with a lumpy off-white head that has some nice retention. Aroma of caramel malt, roasted nuts with pecan praline, flowery hops, and a hint of citrus zest. Taste is medium to full bodied, flavors of caramel malt, pecan praline, some citrus zest and a hint of honey. Finish is semi-sweet with a light caramel and pecan aftertaste that slowly disappears.

Bottle courtesy MrBunn. Pretty good actually..easy drinking beer for hot weather. Aroma is a little light, pouring amber/orange. Flavors of malt, caramel, nuts, and some citrus with a light hop note. Rather light on the palate and a bit crisp. Good beer.

Bottle. Poured a ruby color with a thin off-white head. Initial aroma had hints of metallic in it but clears out. Main flavor of malts and nut. Sweet flavor of caramel and pecans. Light body with a nutty aftertaste. Enjoyable.
