Commercial Description:
A true classic. The original pecan beer. The conventional wisdom is that nuts and beer don’t mix. Maybe it’s something about the water here, and maybe it’s just the smooth toasted flavors in Southern Mississippi pecans, but our pecans help make what we consider to be one of the best beers we have ever tasted. We consider pecans to be a perfect addition to this nut brown ale. Smooth and mild with a malty sweetness accentuated by a rich finish. A finely balanced ale destined to become a southern classic.

Bottle. Poured a ruby color with a thin off-white head. Initial aroma had hints of metallic in it but clears out. Main flavor of malts and nut. Sweet flavor of caramel and pecans. Light body with a nutty aftertaste. Enjoyable.

Light brown. A little sweet. Some nut flavor and a medium palate. It is a solid brown ale.

Bottle from GodOfThunder. Thanks, J, for haulin’ this down I-10 to bring me my first Mississippi rating! Pours a semi-thick and intense mahogany with auburn highlights. Lively body gives way to a nice, 1-finger high off-white head. Nice roasted nut nose with a hint of sweet pecan and a touch of baked rose. Flavor is a rush of roasted nut with the pecan flavor slowly emerging in the finish. The aforementioned nut never overpowers the beer but it does remain noticeable once the first few taste buds send the message of the flavor to the brain. Finishes with a slightly sweet, roasted pecan and nut medely on the tongue. Nice mouthfeel but a bit thin. Great brown ale that is as advertised, unlike Abita’s version.

Bottle 355ml.
Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, nutty. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate malt and nutty bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft and smooth. [20081004]

This is possibly the best pecan beer on the market. I have had a few and none of them really get the nutty flavor into the beer. This is dark, sweet, malty and full of pecans. There is a slight cinnamon spice and strong lightly roasted malts. Pretty darn good, and easy drinking.

Graciously shared by GodOfThunder. Pours an auburn/red with an off-white ring of head around the edge of the glass. Mild sweet malt on the nose. Thin, malty, sweet with a some nutty character. Nothing too impressive, overall very muted.

Bottle shared by GodofThunder and his wife, apparently LOL. Pour was a nice golden brown. Aroma was of a praline! Flavor was sweet sugar, pralines and tons of vanilla. Dessert in my mouth. Super sweet and drinkable.
