Commercial Description:
A true classic. The original pecan beer. The conventional wisdom is that nuts and beer don’t mix. Maybe it’s something about the water here, and maybe it’s just the smooth toasted flavors in Southern Mississippi pecans, but our pecans help make what we consider to be one of the best beers we have ever tasted. We consider pecans to be a perfect addition to this nut brown ale. Smooth and mild with a malty sweetness accentuated by a rich finish. A finely balanced ale destined to become a southern classic.

12 ounce bottle shared by cdumler at a tasting. Pours a nice clear ruby red color with a thin offwhite head. Head retention and lacing are poor. Pecans are notable present in the aroma with caramel and hops as well. Taste is pecan pie... sweet and earthy with pecan and brown sugar notes. There is a slight bitterness that seems like it comes from the nuts more than the hops. Medium bodied.

Bottle. Pours a ruddy brown with little head. Aromas are (oddly enough) very reminiscent of pecans and caramel malt. Flavor is sweet and nutty. Mouthfeel is very smooth and almost oily. For a very light and simple beer, this is pretty darn good. For a gimmick beer, it is very good.

Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective Porter tasting at Dogbricks on 12/4/08. Ran out of porters, so we moved on to whatever else was in the house. Pours a clear light brown with a tiny head. Nutty and malty aroma with a little hop. Flavor was malty and surprisingly tart without much nut character.

Draught. Nice dark, copper-colored beer. Decent head. Hard to pin down any specific flavors but, a good-tasting beer

Caramel color. Smell of malt, pecans, minor hops and caramel. Tastes the same but light. You can defiantly taste the pecans.

12 oz bottle courtesy of brentfreesh poured medium brown with an oily brownish head that fades quickly. Big nut aroma. Medium body with slight bitterness at the beginning and nice nut flavor at the end. Surpised when the aroma was big that the flavor was not. Nice surprise. Not bad just not my cup of tea.

Macro beer aroma. Very bland nose. Taste has mild nutty flavor. Thin mouthfeel. Not good.

Draft. Pours clear brown with some white head. Nose suggests that this will be a sweet drink. There is some nutty and toffee with some fruity berry esters. Yep, the flavor is pretty sweet. Again, kind of a mix of berries and nuts. Fuller body. balanced finish.
