Commercial Description:
A true classic. The original pecan beer. The conventional wisdom is that nuts and beer don’t mix. Maybe it’s something about the water here, and maybe it’s just the smooth toasted flavors in Southern Mississippi pecans, but our pecans help make what we consider to be one of the best beers we have ever tasted. We consider pecans to be a perfect addition to this nut brown ale. Smooth and mild with a malty sweetness accentuated by a rich finish. A finely balanced ale destined to become a southern classic.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Daknole. Pours a clear reddish brown with fading off white head. Light nose of nuts and malt. Flavor of pecan nuts, especially as the beer warms, as well as toasted malt, and a tiny amount of hop bitterness. Smooth nutty finish.

Bottle from Brentfeesh. Thanks! Pours a very nice deep mahogany with red hues and a beige head. Very nice aroma of maple, caramelly malts, cookie dough, and nuts. Medium light bodied with a thin texture. Flavor of nuts, caramel, and tobacco with a hint of fruit. There is decent amount of residual sweetness. The pecans really come through on the finish when it’s right out of the fridge, but the astringency shows up as well. All cellar temp (which I prefer on this one), the finish is semi dry with flavors of husky grains with no astringency. Not too bad. A little more body would make this even better.

Tasted at Noogfest 4.0 (2008). This brown ale pours a light brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is nutty, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are nutty, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Nice pecan finish. Nice session ale. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Finally an Ole Miss beer! And amber to brown apperance with a white head. I detect some of the pacens in the aroma but I also get some caramel and honey. The flavor is straight up pecan pie with some honey and molasses as well. Overall not great but an interesting beer anyway.

Bottle from trade with fiver29. Poured a clear dark brown color with a moderate frothy off-white head that was mostly diminished with good lacing. Medium toasted nutty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. First beer from Mississippi.

Pours a transparent copper amber with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of toasty caramel and nutty pecans. Body starts with average fullness, lightly sweet toasty pale malts and effervescent carbonation before a thinner, watery, mildy nutty finish. An ok brown ale, but nothing special.
