Commercial Description:
A true classic. The original pecan beer. The conventional wisdom is that nuts and beer don’t mix. Maybe it’s something about the water here, and maybe it’s just the smooth toasted flavors in Southern Mississippi pecans, but our pecans help make what we consider to be one of the best beers we have ever tasted. We consider pecans to be a perfect addition to this nut brown ale. Smooth and mild with a malty sweetness accentuated by a rich finish. A finely balanced ale destined to become a southern classic.

Bottle courtesy Papsoe. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are roast malt, caramel, nuts and citrus. Sour finish.

Bottle. Dark, clear, maroon color that looks a bit red held up the light. Leaves a sliver of white head on top, minimal lacing. Pleasant nutty aroma with some brown sugar. Flavors are sweet, nutty, maple syrup, caramel. I’m not normally a big fan of these nut infused beers, but I really liked this one. The nuts don’t overwhelm what seems to be a nicely built brown ale base.

Draft at IBG (Lutz, FL). Pours a clear robust amber color with a beige head. Sweetness in the aroma. A nutty, malty, roasted pecan flavor. Limited aftertaste.

Thanks retorp for the share. Pours brown-red with an off-white head. Nose is toasted malt, nuts, and some roasted/ burnt sugar. Flavor is similar with some nuts and malt. Wears its heart on its sleeve. Light bodied and some malt in the finish.

this beer has a lot of character, I can taste dark malts and the bitterness from the pecans itself at the end of the sip. malts are nice with little to no hops. very good.

The aroma is sweet and caramel like with pecans. The appearance is deep amber with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma with a nice toasted nut and butter finish. The palate is smooth but thin. Overall a very good beer.

Bottle. It’s an orange-brown, almost clear beer with a creamy, beige head. Weak nose, mostly malty, and rather boring. The flavor is sweet and malty, with a tiny hint of sourness and some nutty flavors. Medium body, slightly acidic. The finish is roasted with some bitterness. An easy drinkable beer, but rather boring. Would like more flavor in it, but that would maybe hide all of the pecans. (090605)

Consumed at Sinclair’s Jacksonville, which is in the old Voodoo building. No head. on the pour, nutbrown/redish hue. Bunch of crap really. Did not taste any pecan, just some fake flavouring...like they added some vanilla to it or something. I would have poured it out had I had a drain to pour it in.
