Commercial Description:
A true classic. The original pecan beer. The conventional wisdom is that nuts and beer don’t mix. Maybe it’s something about the water here, and maybe it’s just the smooth toasted flavors in Southern Mississippi pecans, but our pecans help make what we consider to be one of the best beers we have ever tasted. We consider pecans to be a perfect addition to this nut brown ale. Smooth and mild with a malty sweetness accentuated by a rich finish. A finely balanced ale destined to become a southern classic.

2009 Tap. Interesting to say the least. Appears dark brown with little head to speak of. You can taste the difference between this beer and one traditionally brewed with malted barley. There is a dark, dry bitterness to the finish of this beer, though not unenjoyable, make it distinct. Expect a woody, nutty (not quite pecan-esque) flavor from this brew. Not good, but I don’t see this one surviving long-term in the markets.

Bottle, pours a nice brown color. It has a nice sweet taste, with a touch of hops and pecan aftertaste. Nice balance and I was pleasantly surprised with this one being in Alabama and not wanting to drink Bud Light.

Pours brown with an off white head.Nutty malty and sweet aroma.Taste is caramel malty with a bitter finish .Couldn’t find the pecan nuts, but that might just be my untrained palate.Kinda thin body. Nice and quaffable though not overly interesting.

Draught. Poured a translucent mahogany body a thin white head. Fruity malt, pecan, maple syrup, vanilla, lemon grass aroma. Flavor was toasty sweet, some banana and dark fruits, lightly vinous, with some chocolate notes. Palate pleasantly full and not too carbonated.

Bottle. Pours lightly hazy orange amber with a thin straw head. Sweet aroma of nuts, brown sugar, grass. Lightish body, watery texture and moderate carbonation. The taste isn’t as sweet as the aroma, but there is caramel, and the pecans come out more. There’s an almost vanilla-like quality with hints of grass and oranges on the finish. There isn’t the Rogue-like avalanche of hazelnuts, but pecans add a pleasant changeup ot the standard brown ale taste.
