Glouglouburp (2014), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 25, 2006 Draught at Mascouche Oktoberfest. Clear dark-ruby body without much head. This is one very very sweet beer (too sweet for me) full of thick caramel, toffee and sweet cream. Sweet and sticky to the point of being syrupy. Alcohol very apparent. I believe this is Chaudron’s re-creation of the Bièropholie MacKroken Flower that was brewed there before the split of the two. Now MacKroken and McGregor are competitors. Ah, those Scottish, whether beer or people, they always fight. tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 18, 2006 Plenty of caramel and toffee are joined by doughy notes and dark fruits in the aroma with a light but pleasant hint of alcohol. Dark amber brown body is topped by a low, off white head that recedes to ring. Caramel and toffee withe some toasted malt character and lots of dark fruit. Sweetness is offset partially by herbal, green hop flavours and some light notes of smoke. Dark fruits and chocolate linger on the tongue in the aftertaste. Some notes of alcohol. Chewy, thick and syrupy body with somewhat low carbonation that leaves the body feeling a bit slow and heavy despite the rich texture. Mild alcohol warming. Sampled at Mondial 2006. Nekronos (1949), Xalapa, Mexico Sep 16, 2006 NIce memories brought. Very dark is, with good foam and very much bubbles. With a strong taste. VEyr good beer. (Rating #645) Lubiere (3324), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 10, 2006 Dark clear brown ale with a thin moka head. Sweet fruity caramel aroma, with notes of plums, raisins, and light alcohol. In mouth, a sweet malt with notes of plums and warming alcohol, brown sugar and molasse. Rich bodied and smooth. This retro-engineered McKroken is actually quite nice, but please encourage the real thing! On tap, Bieres et Saveurs, Sept. 2 2006.
