The nose is musky with pear and vasaline like malts. The flavor is nice, tangy, balanced. The finish is ripe, more yeast but drinkable. Ungstrup (15337), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 9, 2005 A hazy amber beer with a huge light orange head. The aroma is of yeast, oranges, caramel, nutmeg, and some spices I can’t put a name on, but the draw down in my impression. The flavor is very spicy - a lot like the aroma - combined with notes of caramel. The mouthfeel is sticky. I’m not a fan. willblake (2182), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Weird stuff is sour, black pepper, rotty fruit, DME hints, more sour, but light and airy. Like a really rotty dunkel, but I can’t put it down. Goldorak (439), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 21, 2005 Sampled at the brewpub, served in a bottle with homemade printer-style label.
Opaque and copper, with a light bubbly head that died down to a quiet ring around the pint glass. Anise, some pepper, a faint horseblanket and fusel alcohol finish in the nose. Interesting!
Carbonation feels light, and felt sour like cherries. A good mix of yeast/bread, with black licorice and maybe a little szechuan pepper. Aftertaste is prickly and the tongue a little spicy. Not bad altogether. hopscotch (5507), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 17, 2005 Draft... Lightly hazy, amber ale with a white, quickly dissipating head. Smells very fruity, vineous and earthy with notes of wood, white pepper, a hint of black pepper and nutmeg. The flavor is also very vinous and dry, spicy, lightly tart and fizzy. Medium-bodied. Lengthy, pungent, bone-dry finish. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 8, 2004 Black pepper militants keeling over into a pond of candy-sweet red fruit...Coriander is well-blended with the pepper and the illusion of a Belgian christmas ale is almost achieved...Cherries, peaches and even melons garnish the full body and distract from the coriander and curaçao show on top...Candy canes would not be necessary if I could drink this during the Christmas season... | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 4, 2004 Copper body, foamy and creamy off-white head. Very spicy nose. Appealing in its kind. Mostly black pepper and coriander. Subtle fruit salad hints (melon, pineapple, berries), lemon juice. Firm medium body, fuller than most beers at this pub and lower carbonation, almost syrupy. Tart on the tongue with more orange and pepper flavors. Nice experiment. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 25, 2004 Hazy orange color with a thin head. Amazing aroma of spices (coriander mostly), fruit and alochol. Great spicy (coriander), fruity, sweet (almost like a candy) flavors with maybe orange peel. Bitter finish. Dry mouthfeel. Very good, nicely balanced.
