Veyr good,a lthough it may be a little too hoppy for the style. But good in general.

(Rating #609)

Rather shy nose, with light malty hints . Good complexity , light spiced ale with gentle bittering . I like the outcome . Very nice.

Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a thin white head. Aroma of spicy and citrusy (?) hops with caramel. Flavor of spicy and citrusy hops with caramel and a lasting bitter finish. Light to medium body, dry texture, moderate carbonation. It’ interesting but the hops don’t seem to fit with the altbier style.

Cloudy chestnut brown, sticky off-white head resuming to cover. Subtly peppery and spicy hops accompany a mostly earthy malt profile with coffee hints. Dry hopped? Peaty, dry, bitter and floral. Nutty and leafy spalt?/golding? Hops. Well distributed carbonation, crisp palate. Good stuff, Le Cheval is on a winning streak it seems.

Entered from notes from Fall/Winter 2003/2004. Mild, sweet malt aroma with some spicy hops. Clear, amber-copper with decent off-white head that diminishes to cover. Fairly bitter with herbal and grassy hop flavours and slightly nutty malt flavour. Medium body. Bottle-conditioned at the brewpub.

Clear dark golden beer with a sweet malty nose. Sweet malts with lots of sharp german hops make this alt good but the hops can also be overbearring. Good body.

Loquacious, creamy toffee around a quiet but ambitious citrus surface...A graminaceous hop aftertaste completes the discrete hopsmosis as the nose's prognosis of great balance is confirmed...A slight buttery emphasis deserves a careful and attentive analysis, yet can be quaffed without much conscience...
