Palate:

Flavors:
Hops, Hops, and HOPS, grassy notes, earthy, honey, caramel malts
Notes: 1st beer sampled at the festival... what a great start! MartinT (4330), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 31, 2008 My Bottom Line:
The revealing finish of this pillowy American-style IPA lathers the tongue with peppery, herbal, resinous hoppiness well after the gentle cereal sweetness is introduced. It may not be a balanced brew, but man is it fun!
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A fine sheet of foam covers the hazy orange.
-This is the version brewed with 100% Pacific Gem hops. Their bitterness is astoundingly expressive!
-The nose is mostly resinous.
-The malts could be brighter or crisper, which would let the hops express themselves even more in the flavor profile.
-This hop appears to affirm itself mostly in the finish, although it seems to have been used equally throughout the boil.
-The body is chewy and round.
On tap at Festival Bières et Saveurs. beerbuzzmontreal (2701), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 8, 2008 Sampled on tap at Brouhaha. Cloudy amber pour with a thin white head. Decent aroma of floral, fruity, piny hops. Interesting flavor of floral, fruits, piny hops with some toasted malt and a bitter finish. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. There is a nice balance in there but the whole doesn’t feel like what I expect from Trou du Diable, it doesn’t compare to their other IPA, la Morsure.
