Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Apr 14, 2008 Objectively speaking:
Draught at Brouhaha. Generous and oily scotch ale in line with Trou du Diable’s other very malty offering with its cerealic dominance and slick oily palate.
I like:
Hidden alcohol. Rather complex maltiness. Sweet and tiring, but never exagerating in its residual sugars - just a straight and chewy cerealic medley.
I dislike:
This is really quite oily with little carbonation to compensate. Cereal focus takes a munich angle with the associated flavours (dark bean, warm maroon, warm chesnut, brazil nut). Not so much fruitiness. Heavy and filling to drink, a few ounces are enough. Excessively low carbonation.
mabel (1673), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 10, 2008 [1480-20080601] Tap. Buttery toasted caramel aroma. Clear, dark amber brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Creamy buttery booze flavour has more sweet smooth caramel notes. Medium body. Average.
Lubiere (3324), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 24, 2008 A generous copper ale with a thick light moka head. One word...buttery! Biscuitty malt also come through with strawberry. In mouth, a very fruity scotch ale, with Graham cracker and berries in finale. Some maple notes in residual. A bit thin considering its 9%. On tap at Brouhaha. Imaena (259), Portland, Maine, USA Jun 23, 2008 Draught@ Mondial 2008. Carmel/Deep Brown with cream head. Almost un-carbonated with strong alcohol flavour. It was part of the 15e series and I felt it was one of the less impressive entries. An average scotch ale. jerc (3217), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 6, 2008 2008-06-01. Dark brown body with a modest tan head. (3+) Aroma of dusty earthy malt, mild caramel undertones. (7+) Similar flavour, earthy notes, sweet caramel malt finishes drier with a tangy touch to the caramel and malt. Average plus palate. (3+). Decent. On tap, Mondial, Montreal, 4T
