anders37 (2732), Malmö, Sweden Oct 3, 2008 Draught @ the brewpub. Pours a dark hazy brown color with a small off-white head. Has a wheaty malty caramel aroma with hints of banana and clove. Swetish wheat malty caramel flavor with some hints of chocolate. Has a malty caramel finish with some hints of banana. BillKismet (1439), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 22, 2008 Hazy brownish with characteristic German weizen yeast aroma with wheat, clove and banana as well as some chocolate in aroma and flavor. Moderately lively body. A good version of the style. jlf278 (231), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Apr 1, 2008 On tap, poured a perfet hazy dunkel weizen just begging to hit my lips. However, was a little too simple and mild for my tastes. Not really offering a strong showing of banana chocolate coffee or brown sugar that I find so appealing in others of the style. Also, the palate seemed a bit thin. Overall, not impressed, though enjoyable. riversideAK (1630), Shoreline, Washington, USA Mar 14, 2008 On tap at the Taphouse. Muddy brownish red color with great lacing. Aroma of roasted wheat and chocolate. A touch of dark fruity. Sweet chocolate roast, wheat, some mild dark fruit, carame/toffee etc. DIdn’t get the spice that I usually associate with a Dunkleweizen. Smooth drinking, nice carbonation. CapFlu (3339), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Dec 27, 2007 (Draught) Sampled at Taphouse in Seattle. A rather expensive sampler at $9.95 for four 4-ounce samples. Pours a small, creamy head with a mahogany body. Nose of wheat and cocoa. Flavours of chocolate malt, wheat and caramel with minor spice in the finish.
