Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Blind Pig Dunkel Weizen

This is a medium-bodied, unfiltered dark wheat beer with a smooth, gently sweet character. The flavor has notes of chocolate and caramel combined with the cereal malt flavor contributed by malted wheat. Blind Pig is a very unique beer with few other examples of the German Dunkel Weizen style brewed in the Northwest, and certainly none as tasty.

On tap at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. Color was amber-auburn. Aroma was bready and very wheaty; hint of earth/citrus. Flavor was surprisingly dominated by a toasted malt like presence. Wheaty and pretty dry overall. A bit too dry for the style for me.

Hazy brown color with lacy head. Silky mouthfeel and astringent bready flavor. Taste would be helped tremendously if a good yeast was more prominent.

G.A.B.F. 2008: Hazy maroon with a creamy tan head. The aroma has some softly toasted malts and peppery esters. Creamy feel on the palate. Nice soft toasted notes in the flavor- almond and cinnamon, with surprisingly little yeast to speak of. Interesting and tasty. Doesn’t seem like a Dunkelweizen but it’s tasty.

Draught @ the brewpub. Pours a dark hazy brown color with a small off-white head. Has a wheaty malty caramel aroma with hints of banana and clove. Swetish wheat malty caramel flavor with some hints of chocolate. Has a malty caramel finish with some hints of banana.

Hazy brownish with characteristic German weizen yeast aroma with wheat, clove and banana as well as some chocolate in aroma and flavor. Moderately lively body. A good version of the style.

On tap, poured a perfet hazy dunkel weizen just begging to hit my lips. However, was a little too simple and mild for my tastes. Not really offering a strong showing of banana chocolate coffee or brown sugar that I find so appealing in others of the style. Also, the palate seemed a bit thin. Overall, not impressed, though enjoyable.

On tap at the Taphouse. Muddy brownish red color with great lacing. Aroma of roasted wheat and chocolate. A touch of dark fruity. Sweet chocolate roast, wheat, some mild dark fruit, carame/toffee etc. DIdn’t get the spice that I usually associate with a Dunkleweizen. Smooth drinking, nice carbonation.
