Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Blind Pig Dunkel Weizen

This is a medium-bodied, unfiltered dark wheat beer with a smooth, gently sweet character. The flavor has notes of chocolate and caramel combined with the cereal malt flavor contributed by malted wheat. Blind Pig is a very unique beer with few other examples of the German Dunkel Weizen style brewed in the Northwest, and certainly none as tasty.

On tap at brewpub. This dunkel pours a medium brown color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is malt and grain, with some roasty malts and chocolate. A medium to light bodied dunkel. Malts are fruity and sweet, a touch roasty with a hint of chocolate. Some grain and grass. Hop are slightly spicy and a touch floral. Nice balance. Light and refreshing, with just the right amount of chocolate malt flavors. Crisp and clean. An excellent session beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with some chocolate.

On draught at pub. Pours a cloudy dark red with a off white head and creamy lacing. Banana, clove, and chocolate in the nose. The flavor has some banana nut bread with chocolate, and clove notes. Good beer.

On tap at the Dog House in Langley, WA.

Pours dark brown with almost no head. Soft aroma with some apricot, a hint of caramel, a hint of wheat. The flavor seems to go in a number of directions at once: roasty milk chocolate malts, gentle orchard fruit, a hint of fruit, smoked grain, a bit of caramel, a relatively assertive hop finish after a relatively sweet front side.

Smooth and somewhat sweet and malty. A rich lingering finish, with some spiciness, not over the top, some light fruitiness, well balanced with just a touch of rich, caramel and chocolate interlude with the fruit flavors. A solid Dunkel

Draft at Red Lion in Richland, WA. Dark caramel brown with a decent head that left lacing most of the way down the glass. Aromas were malty and pretty sweet. The chocolate definitley came in on the flavor, and even lasted into the finish. Very Malty middle, and a pretty smooth finish. Very good, and very drinkable.

(Draft: Fishbowl Brewpub in Olympia, WA) Sweet and caramely, lightly toasty, moderate wheat flavor, moderately bitter, with a gentle, pleasant smokiness in the finish. Seems sweeter than most dunkelweizens I’ve had. Sweet, caramely wheat aromas emanate from the glass. Light-to-medium bodied, not watery at all, and the light carbonation makes for a pretty soft and easy mouthfeel. Murky brown in appearance, fully cloudy, with a light tan head that retains a thin layer for the entire session. A fair amount of patchy lacing on the glass. Overall, it’s more sweet and caramely than anything else, and kind of boring, but it’s easy to drink and I definitely like it more than their generic-tasting hefeweizen.

Murky dark brown and burgundy. Crisp toasty bread and tortilla chip flavor: coarse body, almost gritty with burnt wood and burnt toast flavors. Good stuff, but a roasty, smooth texture.

Draught, The Taphouse, Bellevue
Dark brown colour, slighty hazy. Lightly malty flavour with chocolate accents. Clean maltiness. Pretty good dunkel, not sure where the weizen is.
