Pours a hazy light copper color with a full off-white head. It has an aroma of pine and hops, which I found to be appealing. Complex flavor, with a presence of citrus, but the hops is up front and prominent. Good mouthfeel with a dry finish. If you like hoppy beers like I do, you’ll probably love this one. Pair with a spinach salad topped with feta cheese, dried cranberries and balsamic vinegarette dressing. Add to that a pan-fried trout (in butter, of course), along with roasted potatoes. jcwattsrugger (5581), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Sampled on tap at the Fish Tale brewpub. Pours a cloudy golden amber brew with a thin white head that quickly dissolves to a white ring. Aroma of grapefruit, piney hops, caramel malt and a little Ivory soap. Taste is loaded with heavy grapefruit-ish flavor, medium bodied with light carbonation. Finish is not as heavy as the flavor but has a slow lingering citrusy aftertaste. BennyTicklez (621), USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 17, 2006 Tasted on tap at brewpub. This IPA pours a medium orange color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, citrus and floral hops. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet, touch of caramel. Hops are grapefruity and piney. A fairly bitter IPA, there are nice malt flavors in the background and at the finish, but the rest is all the hops. Fairly typical PNW IPA, lots of malts, and even more hops. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 26, 2006 Draft at Brouwer’s Cafe Hopfest ’06. Cloudy orange with a lacy off-white head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Medium body and carbonation. Bittersweet grapefruit, mango and toffee taste leading to a dry and lightly resinous finish. Nicely balanced for a beer loaded with hops. after4ever (2828), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 26, 2006 Draft at Brouwer’s Cafe Hopfest ’06. **NOTE**: This review applies to the "Super Hopped" version, which had a lot of things going on I wouldn’t expect from a beer less aggressively hopped. Haven’t tried the regular Hodgson’s, though. Amber and orange with a lacy white head. Crisp citrus nose with a great mango fruity finish--the attack and mid-palate are just rest stops between these two, some lovely sweet malt and added sugar for balance of the hop pile. Really nice stuff.
