Dark bronze body, creamy offwhite head.
Dark fruits on the nose, light roast, brown sugar, sultanas and liquorice.
Thick and creamy palate, rich with medium carbonation.
Lovely richly flavoured body with plenty of plum, dark cherry, anise and mollases.
Very nice indeed! ericandersnavy (1038), crossroads, Texas, USA Nov 4, 2009 bottle thanks to boomer0813. poured brownish amber with a beige head. aroma was lots of malt, raisin, fig, slight earthiness, and licourice. flavor was tons of black licourice (which i do not like at all) and prunes. body was medium-heavy with low carbonation. taste makes me cringe everytime i take a drink. i hope i dont have to drain pour this thing, but hey it was on sale for 5 bucks. BeerGestapo (725), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2009 Brewed in Begium..... Halloween bash 2009. Pours dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and dark fruit. Taste of spices, raisins, malts and a hint of chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium in body and finishes sticky sweet. Stew41 (1040), Caulfield, Australia Oct 20, 2009 Good enough if not particularly memorable. Lots of cola and toffee to taste and smell, although milk chocolate note persists on the nose. There’s sweeter cooked / stewed fruit note as well. Mild hops to finish and surprisingly dry kick in the back palate. Subtle beer. BeerChaser0078 (283), Melbourne, Australia Oct 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours very dark coppery red with a light tan head that diminishes to surface cover fairly quickly. Aroma has strong notes of raisins, malt and caramel. Flavour is quite different with malt and toffee mixed in with liquorice, mint, coriander and some other subtle herbal elements. Mouthfeel is smooth, almost creamy, with a long, fresh finish. Different from a lot of belgian strong ales but a refreshing change of pace. SeanMacGC (233), Dublin, Ireland Aug 17, 2009 Updated: Aug 18, 2009Bottle, 33cl. Pours dark brown, with fluffy and deep off-white head that endures for the duration. Aroma of dark fruits, molasses and roasted malts. The flavour is rounded and complex, of sweet malts, dark fruits, some chocolate and licorice. Pleasant mouthfeel, with a decent linger to the taste. teorn88 (60), , Italy Aug 16, 2009 33cl bottle. Pours a dark-brown colour with big creamy off-white head. Mostly lasting and godd lacing foam. Aroma is mainly malty with hints of cookies. Alcohol, plums, spices and dried fruits too in my nose. Flavor is less complex than aroma and is the weak point of this beer. Initial flavor is sweetness with soft alcohol. Finish flavor is Biteerness with some alcohol again. Soft alcoholic aftertaste. Medium to full body with high carbonation. Good beer, not great. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Aug 3, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown with a big beige foam. Aromas are malty with chocolate and molasses. Herbal and vinous. Flavours are herbal and medicinal with dark chocolate and cola. Vinous with alcohol coming through.
