Pours with a creamy, foamy head and looks rich. Suspended yeast signals the potentially nourishing qualities of the beer. Aroma is complex, spicy. Cinammon is most pronounced, but so is some currant, clove, cardamom, and chicory. These aromas carry over into the full-flavored abbey dubbel. It’s smooth and balanced in spite of the spiciness. The Floreffe dubbel leaves a strange bittery aftertaste of orange peel that is not offensive but not particularly pleasant either. The back of the throat senses sharp spice like ginger sensation. This is fairly highly carbonated beer too, which serves to usher the flavors into the mouth. A little salty too. Big yet mild.

Poured a dense dark brown with an off-white almost brown head. Aroma and flavour were primarily of dark fruits, nuts, chocolate and spices. The finish was quite spicy. Glad to have tried it.

Bottled(330ml). -Reddish pale brown coloured, small off-white head, discreet malty nose. Light roasted malt, caramel and dark fruits with notes of chocolate and nuts. Also few licorice hints. Mild alcoholic rather dry finish. St Feuillien Brune is much better but this is still good abbey dubbel.

Bottle. Large beige creamy head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Dark cola like color. (it was compared with a cola). Aroma was quit lovely with notes of fruit, caramelized, yeast, hint of sweet liquorish, mild toasted malt and what could appear as sweet chocolate. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor. Lingering sweet fruity caramelized finish.
