Aroma is candy sweet with a fruit tone. Color is a near solid amber with a big tall tight tan head. Taste is rich, sweet and fruity. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a rich sweet feel. Finish comes in sweet with brown sugar and dried fruit flavors, then a very faint bitterness with a slight orange peel taste. After taste is more sugar, then after a bit it seems a little dry. This is a very good brew, but it comes across a little sweet and sugary.

I was expecting and hoping for an Oude Brune sour brown ale when I ordered this from the very long bottle list at the Palm Tavern in Milwaukee. While this beer wasn’t the sourness I was really hoping for, I still can’t really fault it - it was pleasantly malty and fruity in almost a quad type of flavor profile. I thought it to be pretty good. It poured a brilliant brown color, which was not quite transparent. Aroma was raisins, some cherriness, and some citrus. Flavor wasn’t sour, but offered lots of dried fruit, some citrus, and a lot of evidence of darker roasted malts. Mouthfeel was dry and crisp. This wasn’t what I was expecting, but it was good enough to make me try some other Lefebvre beers. I would recommend this beer. I had this from a bottle at the Palm Tavern in Bayview, WI.

The Dan Journal #209. Tasted 7/21/08. 750ml cork and cage. Hazy with a dark brown hue. Ruby highlights. Bubbled spotty moldy off-white head. Citrus lemon aromas. Figgy licorice nose. Fruity cherry aromas. Good nose! Full bodied with a big citrus presence. Candy estery. Spicy with a nice a nice carbonation. Dried fruit flavors. Bitter yet mild hop note. Honey and cocoa undertones. Good body. Fun!

Poured from a 750ml bottle. Pours a dark cola color with a beige, slowly dissipating head. Sweet flavor, hint of dark fruits. Alcohol well hidden.

750 ml bottle. Sweet candy fruity nose. Deep red body if held to light with good tan head. Good lacing lft on glass. Sweet blackcherry licorice flavor with a thicker body texture. Sweetness lingers on the palate, decent brew pick up on the Texas trip.
