Color is a near solid amber with a big tall tight tan head. Taste is rich, sweet and fruity. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a rich sweet feel. Finish comes in sweet with brown sugar and dried fruit flavors, then a very faint bitterness with a slight orange peel taste. After taste is more sugar, then after a bit it seems a little dry. This is a very good brew, but it comes across a little sweet and sugary. BeerBelcher (943), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2008 I was expecting and hoping for an Oude Brune sour brown ale when I ordered this from the very long bottle list at the Palm Tavern in Milwaukee. While this beer wasn’t the sourness I was really hoping for, I still can’t really fault it - it was pleasantly malty and fruity in almost a quad type of flavor profile. I thought it to be pretty good.
It poured a brilliant brown color, which was not quite transparent. Aroma was raisins, some cherriness, and some citrus. Flavor wasn’t sour, but offered lots of dried fruit, some citrus, and a lot of evidence of darker roasted malts. Mouthfeel was dry and crisp. This wasn’t what I was expecting, but it was good enough to make me try some other Lefebvre beers.
I would recommend this beer.
I had this from a bottle at the Palm Tavern in Bayview, WI. sneagrams3 (1757), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
