A great beer, superb balance between the alcohol and the taste. Enjoyit (1783), Vadum, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 2, 2007 I think bottle says BB end of 2008? Pours a very dark, almost black, garnet color with a huge, beige, creamy head; longevity is good and leaves sufficient lace. Nose is pleasant, but nothing to exceptional; can smell the anise and light corriander under a nutty, prune, cola base. Flavor is much of the same, nice but a bit on the simple side; prune, cola, and some chocolate and toffee with hints of the anise and corriander. A decent bitterness comes into the picture towards the end with a buttery, slightly floral tinge. Palate is medium, velvety, round, and soft, but does not leave a lasting feel on the tongue. Finishes quickly, ghostly almost, and a bit dry with lingering anise and floral bitterness. Not bad spiced Belgian, but really lacked depth and intriguing complexities. Spicing was done with good restraint and alcohol was very well hidden. Fairly well done, but pretty basic and nothing really stood out to make it great. Zinister (1207), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2007 Dark brown tan head and good lacing. Great malty fruit nose along with that great Belgian yeast aroma. Sweet fruit taste with light caramel, toffee notes and dark fruits. Some nuttyness in this beer as well. Easy to drink and taste very nice. Mungo (2473), Southampton, Hampshire, England
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2007 Bottle (from Bitter Virtue, BB Apr 08). Immediate aroma of fruity spicy yeast almost like a strong but pale belgian beer. In the mouth the darker malts are very apparent with sweet toffee and caramel and plummy, raisiny depths. There is also some herby spicy flavours which dont feel entirely as if originated from hops. Delicate tartness in the finish which stops the sweetness becoming cloying but doesnt entirely prevent it becoming a bit much in the end. HenrikSoegaard (4427), Randers, Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 30, 2007 Bottle. Creamy lightbrown excellent fully lasting head. Darkred amber colour. Heavy amlty light hoppy aroma. Very metallic. Moderate bitter flavor. Long nice bitter finish with fruity and chocolate notes. Oily palate. Tejas (704), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 26, 2007 Generally not my favorite style. I’m just not much into Belgians but I can recognize this is a solid ale. A 750ml becomes a bit sweet for me after awhile but it was good at first, especially when the good spicy flavors were coming through.
