| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 10, 2007 Bottle. Pours jet black with a nice off-white head. Aroma is metallic pear. Flavor is wild berry with sweetbread, flat grape soda; alcohol nonexistent. Watery mouthfeel. Thin mouthfeel and a bizarre mix of flavors, but it’s not bad. However, one is definitely enough. Dark brown, almost black beer with a firm head. Brewed with candy sugar and spices.
A full, well balanced flavour. Some roeasted malt, some burned sugar, but there is a nice bitterenss, too. The spices? Ginger and cinnamon blend in with the sweetness. And there is a warming aftertaste. Pleasant for a nightcap with a good book. I wouldn’t mind having a few of this in my cellar. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 28, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Dark brown pour with 3-finger tan head that reappears with each repour. Aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar, toffee, figs, raisins, berries. Complex aroma. The taste is very dark fruity, with notes of blackberry, plum, brown sugar, caramelly malt, toffee, spices, and some funky yeasty notes as it warms. Again, a very complex taste for this one, with a rich, lively palate. This one reminds me a lot of the profiles of the greats like St. Berny, Rochy, and Westy, and perhaps I’ll set up a horizontal with this one one of these days. At any rate, find this one. It’s well worth looking for. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA

Some really nice choccy malts on this. Bit of hot alcohol. Bit powdery in mouth, but great intensity of choccy malt. Yeah, it’s a bit simplistic, but it’s done well. I thought it was pretty decent if a bit sweet. kkearn (1011), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 19, 2007 One of the best beer I found during my 6 days in Belgium. This is a dark brown beer with sediment and looks like an Abt. Big fruit and malt aroma. Flavor has sweet fruit and loads of malt with a very light alcohol taste. I perceive no flaws in this beer. Very good.
