This opaque brown ale poured with an attractive fluffy brown head and a fruity aroma. There is a sweet caramel malt flavor that fades to bitter as the spices take over. There is a dry finish with some carbonation and alcohol warming.

Bottled, BB 12/20/2008. Poured crystal-clear cola brown with about a finger’s worth of initial head that settled to a fine film.. nice lacing. The aroma had rich aged caramels and lesser chocolate supporting anise and a whole array of other wintery spices.. this smelled good, but it may have smelled great if I warmed it up. The flavor was equally spicy with a fine yeasty impression of cloves and dry white pepper paired with caramel and vinous notes.. spicy all the way through the finish leaving a satisfying, warming impression. Medium-plus bodied on the palate with higher carbonation that moved it well across the palate.. dry, especially on the back end, and the spice blend certainly worked. Very, very good brew.

bottle, pours dark brown with a two finger tan head. Aromas of vanilla, brown sugar, and licorice. Flavors are mild with some sweet dark malt, a light hop bitterness, and a burnt honey/candy sugar note. Some alcohol in the finish which ends with a lingering sweetness on the back of the tongue.

Good lasting off-white head on a dark brown body. Subdued notes of dark fruit, fig, liquorice and some yeast in the taste and aroma, with not a lot of any characters really standing out. Drinkable and don’t notice the alcohol.

Lovely burgundy colour large frothy pink tinge head good carbonation aroma malty plum fruit vanilla flavour caramel aniseed raisin plum nice creaminess and smoothness to this drink sweet notes then tangy mild bitter fig bounce around the palate finish sweet tangy mild dryness lovely this is something special to me.

[bottle - corked and caged 750 ml] Dark brown color with a very small but creamy looking tan head. Aroma is sweet and spicy. Good solid malt nose mixes well with some light spice and yeast. Some grapefruit and candy as well. Tastes sweet and malty at the beginning with lots of candy sugar and malts mixing with some yeast and some various fruits. Very lightly spiced.

Bottled. Pours dark brown with a finely textured fluffy tan head about an inch in height. Excellent lacing. Nose of dark fruit and burned malt. Full bodied with subtile flavors from the spices. The spices don’t overpower this beer but add subtle nuances instead. Slighty citric bitterness and date like flavour. Nicely n´balanced. A very enjoyable brew.
