| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2008 330. Pours a deep grainy, nearly opaque ebony with a thick, surging, moussy tan head. Nice mild molasses and caramel nose, some licorice too. Very fruity and spicy. Sweet. Creamy medium body, very soft carb. Easy to drink, hides the alcohol well. Mid-palate doesn’t show much distinction, just the usual suspects from the nose coming around again. Bit thin. Neutral-ish finish. Nice and likable, but not going to knock you out and drag you home. luttonm (307), Belgrade, Serbia
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2008 Deep, complex body and taste. Strangely enough, my first taste comparison would be to dogfishhead’s world wide stout. sweetm malty, deep carbonation and anise/orange peel.
Dark, deep brown color, perfect creamy head that was tall and lasted for ages.
Love the strong flavor but not my choice for this style. IlanMan (850), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2008 Pours very dark brown with a dark crimson hue and a small tan head. The aroma has caramel, dates, biscuit milkiness, ice cream malt and candi sugar. This reminds me a bit of Des Roc Grand Cru and Brune. Medium / thick body with medium carbonation. The flavor starts with the aroma traits with a bit of spice an milk chocolate added. the finish has a LOT of star anise presence. And very well constructed BSA.
