BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA Nov 8, 2009 Leffe has a clear bright gold pour with a white foamy head, there is an abundance of effervescence in this beer when first poured, fine bubbles cling together and to the glass to make whippy lacing, very nice to look at, head is sturdy and always there and looks like an over carbonated.
Aromas are yeasty bread, malt and some fruit, there is some leaf and faint earthy tones in the background (hops?), and I get some faint alcohol in the background to,
flavors are light malt (Pilsner?), bread and light fruit with a honey sweetness, I noticed some pepper bite at the finish, there was some traces of some malt flavor and sweetness after the finish, and some alcohol felt in the background to, not a lot of alcohol but this is a 6.6% alc. beer and I do not think this should not be given any alcohol flavors for that alcohol strength, the alcohol did not spoil the enjoyment of the beer for me but some drinkers may find it to be a nuisance,
mouth feel is around medium, maybe a touch thin from too much carbonation, this is an easy drinking beer, bubbly and gives a creamy mouth feel (from the carbonation),
this is an ok drink, I liked the malt aroma of this beer but nothing really exciting.
Niko100 (81), New York, USA Nov 2, 2009 Rich gold/amber color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of yeast, fruit/floral, & spice; Flavor of sweet malt, fruit- notably apricot & banana, caramel and spice; The palate is a little on the light side, but nicely balanced; A very good brew -I drink this one all the time. jepp (1), Québec, Quebec, Canada does not count Nov 2, 2009 Bonne bière facilement trouvable partout au prix des bières commerciales... tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA Oct 28, 2009 Pours a straw yellow with big fluffy head.
Nose is dominated by yeast, corriander, cumin, lemon peel.
Taste is ok, lots of spicy yeast flavors, corriander, cumin, hints of lemon and orange. osu97gp (168), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 28, 2009 Pours a pale orange-yellow with a white head. Aroma of malts and spices, especially cloves. Flavor is yeasty and spicy. Not bad. jongo (4), Stockholm, Sweden does not count Oct 28, 2009 bottle. A good macrobeer. Much better on tap, the bottle have some unpleseant cardboard? Yeast?. I prefer the brune. Goba (62), Brazil Oct 25, 2009 A nice golden body with a small white nice forming but quickly fading foam. Altough there was way too much carbonation for what I like in a beer. The aroma was quite a nice one, with a nice barley matl feeling along with strong spicy tendencies (coriander dominating here), some nice clove here. The taste was not superb, it was quite watery, but came with good malt, spice flavors (mainly coriander), clove and even some nice plum, some banana and some nice apricot. The aftertaste got me going, and filled my mouth: fresh bitterness showing some hop and yeast to it, with little of the previously dominating coriander. Carbon dioxide came all along, did not the best to the this ale. Mouthfeel was OK, nothing much. And the beer is somewhat unbalanced to the sweet - but my guess is that there’s too much water flowing in the making. Nice beer. Aquilo (248), California, USA Oct 24, 2009 Perfectly clear golden amber color with a fluffy white head. Its a bit too clear to be real, I suspect that they may have filtered all the flavor out of it. Aroma has a bit of bottle stink, and under that, some banana and clove. Flavor is water, carbon dioxide, water, yeast, water, clove. Spicy finish. Not great.
