Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Mar 8, 2008 Bottle, 26th Feb 2008. Reddish amber with an aroma of red berries and raspberries. Treacly and sticky in the mouth with a nutty malt flavour. Decent stuff. FatPhil (3443), Espoo, Finland Mar 7, 2008 330ml bottle.
Rich red. small foamy head. Caramel banana and a little alcohol on the nose. Slightly sharp mouthfeel from the carbonation and alcohol, but not offensive. Fairly sweet alcholic taste with a range of accompanying flavours that go from decently roasted malt to yeast to nuttiness to sticky bitterness later. However, the alcohol is a little too prominent, if they could crank that down, I’d like it a lot more. No disaster, certainly, but I prefer their brune any day. ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Mar 5, 2008 Bottle (33 cl) at Brussels airport. Clear copper, medium beige head. Nutty malt aroma, a bit flat, with some alcohol notes. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Dry with a light bitterness. onlyrocknroll (218), Cork, Ireland Feb 28, 2008 Very attractive burgundy colour with a medium head. Underwhelmingly weak fruity malty aroma. The flavour is malty, with caramel and spiciness and alcohol. Sounds more interesting than it is though, just a little too weak in its flavour I found. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 26, 2008 Aroma is spicry and fruity. pours light brown with a red hue, with a big head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Flavor is malty and dry with some spiciness, and raisins. easying drinking mouthfeel. More hops and complexity would be nice... but by no means a bad beer. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands Feb 22, 2008 Lovely fruity aromas, but the taste leaves to be disired, too malty and one- dimensional-but in no way bad. Tasty and chewy brew, but in no way complex. Brix (371), Denmark Feb 16, 2008 Tasted 2007-02-13. Fresh bottle. Pours clear amber/brown with a beige head. Aroma of cloves, cookies, wood. Ditto flavours with an acidic touch. Nice understated bitterness.
