Aroma is malty. nutty and vanilla. Nutty, malty flavor. Mild, and with the alcohol well hidden. lululegrand (94), gent, Belgium Jan 15, 2005 Warn brown color, red shine in it. Bubbely foam. Malts in the nose, also a little sweet and touch of fruit. Malty taste, hint of caramel, light accent of dry fruit. larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Jan 15, 2005 Bottled.
Redbrown with a quickly diminishing head.
Sweet candy-aroma.
A bit thin with some late bitterness
Spicy. pineypower (1076), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Dec 21, 2004 Pours out a really interesting color of ruby red hued brown with a rather small head. The aroma is fruity with some alcohol. The taste is sweet with some nice fruity notes and a decently masked alcohol content with a somewhat bitter finish. sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland Dec 19, 2004 Updated: Jul 23, 2007(Bottled) Hazy dark amber with a quite large, foamy, tight and slightly tanned, lacy head. Toffee-caramely, slightly sweet and sour aroma. The flavor is grainy-toffee-malty, a bit sweet, alcoholic and vegetably, but remains somewhat pleasant. I had so much nicer memories of this...
(Bottled, 8.6% ABV, rated 12/19/2004, was 8-5-7-4-15=3.9) Dark walnut/red color with a largeish, foamy and tight, lacy head. Very nice, deep red color against a candle light. Sweet, toffeeish, popcorn aroma with fruit, some berries and a hint of alcohol. Quite malty and fruity, sweet flavor with caramel-syrup and - in the finish - a hint of alcohol. Quite full-bodied, very smooth and slippery, somewhat sugary and foamy-carbonated palate. A quite enjoyable, sweet and strong ale, but not very complex. The flavor is a bit empty and disappointing. Burner (78), Cape Town, South Africa Dec 12, 2004 A fairly strong beer, with loads of flavours, lightly sour taste, but none the less refreshing and warm. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Dec 1, 2004 This reddish amber beer pours with a nice tan head. The flavor is sweet and sour, with a candy note. There is an initial alcohol taste and a bitter finish. A decent brew for a cold winter night.
