turbothy (717), Bonn, Germany Jun 30, 2004 More aroma, but a lot less taste than the Vieille Cuvée. Wouldn’t think I’d ever say this about a Leffe, but it’s actually a bit boring. Too sweet and a bit too fizzy. vanvenlo (794), Glen Iris, Australia Jun 27, 2004 Updated: Jun 28, 200414 June 2004 - Galour fruit aroma, nice complexity and slight alcoholic hint. Low suds, clear red brown colour low head. Complex hop, medium hopping finish, with lingering dryness. Slight fizzy sweet aftertaste. Lunkie (1020), Glen Iris, Australia Jun 18, 2004 Spiritus fruit malt aroma with clear red brown colour. Fruit malt flavour with smooth flat palate. AAO (102), Næstved, Denmark Jun 17, 2004 Borring appearence. The aroma is fruity and very fresh. The taste is a bit borring, it´s to sweet. But a powerfull finnish. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 10, 2004 Light fruits and touches of alcohol in the aroma. Clear golden brown with dense off-white head. Fruity, malty, biscuity. Alcohol somewhat apparent. Touches of chocolate and caramel. Pronounced bitterness in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel. Bottle (sampled at Mondial 2004). Trogdor (193), brisbane, Australia Jun 7, 2004 pear, honey-dew melon, mandarin with a hint of alcohol spiciness.
deep amber/ruby red, creamy head, high carbonation.
surprisingly refreshing, spicy alcohol, hint of dark chocolate, biscuity, cherry, lightly floral and nutty.
full creamy palate with light bitterness.
nice, surprisingly refreshing, finish is mouth-watering, alcohol is well disguised.
Mathis (48), KBH K, Denmark May 25, 2004 A bit boring apperence with a laim head. A fresh, sweet and fruite aroma. The flavor is dominated by sweet hops and fruits with a bitter finish. Fine beer, but a little too sweet. mullet (798), Melbourne, Australia May 22, 2004 Something is very wrong - I used to like this beer????
Looks great - deep red colour, excellent head retention. This is the only thing good about this beer.
Aroma is bizarre - very yeasty, ginger, lemons, HEAPS of phenols, dirt, chilli - it’s quite objectionable actually. Kind of reminds me of the aroma of the Robinson’s beers from the Gold Coast. Flavour is a bit spicy with loads of alcohol, dirt and onions, and rather bitter.
Really, really terrible. Surely something was wrong here - Interbrew makes boring beers, but they are rarely offensive.
