Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 13, 2008 Updated: May 12, 2008In short: A boring sugary Belgian ale with no character.
How: Bottle, 330ml, about 3 to 4 months old.
The look: Clear amber body with a small beige head.
In long: Basic sweet malts, medium-high sweetness level, some brown sugar and some candy sugar, some redeeming woody notes both in the malts and hops profile, light caramel, expansive carbonation, short finish. Leffe Radiant?!? I don’t remember anything being so radiant since the foggy cloudy London weather. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 17, 2008 2008-03-08. Mahogany brown body with a large creamy off white head. (4+) Mild aroma, lightly yeasty, hint of play-doh? Odd notes that I can’t decide if they are really there or not, hint of butterscotch and odd fruity notes. Strange. Sweet flavour, muddled sugars and malts, dry modestly alcoholic finish (6+). Average plus palate. Meh, decent but by Belgian standards it is average at best. Bottle at Leffe Plaza, Airport, Brussels
Pyobon (266), Sydney, Australia Mar 17, 2008 Bottle. Poured deep red brown with a slight off-white head. The aroma developed as the beer warmed up. Initially just malty, a toffee aroma developed and then some notes that were less pleasant (cheesy, barnyard?). Full bodied with ample, but refined, carbonation giving excellent mouthfeel. The flavour is very complex, but predominantly rich and malty. When cold the initial taste has fruity (maybe apples) hints, passing through toffee / trecale and dark malt to some bitterness in the finish. As the beer warms up more flavour is released with chocolate, cherries, plums and spicyness (cloves?). Excellent beer. couchand (182), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Mar 17, 2008 Malty, caramel, herbal spicy aroma.
Copper brown.
Spicy, absinthe like flavor. Very little head.
Alcoholic spiciness. renffisch (490), london, Greater London, England Mar 11, 2008 33cl bottle with ethereal at home. aromas of raspberry and strawberry, dark reddish brown in colour with a quite decent head.
