Dark brown colour. yellow-brownish head, thick but disappearing. Chalk in the nose. some nutty aroma, little or no madeirisation, but there is alcohol apparent. Bitter, burnt taste. There is a taste reminding of walnuts - but the nuts haven't been peeled. Extract of walnut-bolsters is used in home-wine making for emulating portwine... This bitterness is too harsh. There is a malty underbuilding, but it is not enough to achieve balance. Medium to full bodied, a bit oily. I have the impression there is more alcohol apparent in the younger beer. The horrible walnutpeel bitterness keeps going, but at least there are some more refined flavours, esterish, in the aftertaste.

Mar 16, 2004 Amber colour with fine head. Aroma is sweet, fruity and spicy. Flavor is malty with bitter finish, cant quite hide the alcohol content.

Sep 25, 2003 Bottled, Pasteurised. Copper coloured, quite fizzy, chunky white head. This is a spicy, fruity confection, almost like a belgian chocolate. Promises much but short on delivery, the alcohol is everything in the end.

Oct 4, 2002 This is very yeasty. It has some strange rather unpleasant flavour which I also find in the Leffe Blonde and Vieille Cuvée.

Mar 6, 2009 Bottle: Amber, clear, lively carbonation, small, but stable creamy beige head; a subtle fruitiness in the by caramel and coriander dominated nose; moderate sweet, slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied, sweet-caramelly finish with a subtle fruitiness and some spices around. Pleasant, not too complex.........

Aug 25, 2003 Bottled: Amber coloured. Medium lasting white/brown head. Spicy, sweet and malty aroma. Flavour is malty and fruity and has a lightly spiced touch. Some light bitterness in the end.

Aug 2, 2005 33 cl bottle. Ruby tinted, dark brown beer. Aroma is spicy and yeasty. Some heavy spice, leather, dusty, and quite fruity. Apricot, plum, and some flowery aromas. Flavour is quite sweet, but the yeasty spice and fruit keep it well balanced.
