Fresh aroma of malt, citrus and raspberries. Well balanced flavour that begins (berry-) sweet and then turns dry and hoppy, but not really distinct in any way. At a reasonable price it’s a bargain, but it’s far from the best strong Belgians.
Aged tasting, best before November 07, tasted November 07: Aroma is very similar. Flavour is slightly oxidized, (rasp)berry clearly dominates the hops now, mouthfeel is big and fat. Lubiere (4552), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Notes of spices like coriander or cloves in the nose with some warmth. I get some liquor aromas with some sweet maple. Deep malt taste with some spices, with some pears, and again this nice caramelly rum flavour. Good bitterness which coats the mouth in a pleasant way. Good stuff. 7-4-7-4-15 Bottle at l’autre oeil, june 16, 2006. Hazy red copper ale with a thick big bubbled off white head. Herbal malts with orange peels and coriander, thym and grass. In mouth, a rich alcohol warms the mouth, leading to a crisp malt, light herbal hops. Rich bodied. 8-4-8-4-15 HenrikSoegaard (4430), Randers, Denmark

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2008 330 ml. bottle. Pours a clear dark copper amber color with a significant beige head. Aroma of rather dark malt with a suggestion of cherry(?) dark fruit. Medium body with fizzy, creamy carbonation. Alcohol is noticeable. The flavor is dark caramel with something like a cherry hop bitter (light cherry). Finishes rather dry, and the bitter builds up. Cherry pits? Some sort of darkish stone fruit. It is very, very good. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
