Pours a beautiful, spiralling, efferevescent and bright, reddish amber. The head is large, off-white, and creamy turning to rocky. Light lacing. Sweet boiled candy and sour fruit are suggested in the nose at first, followed by liqourice and a touch of soap later. Candy, cognac, spices and wood come through in the flavour that is sweet first, followed by a touch of aniseed and a subtle woody, tannic, bitterness. I thought there would be more sour influence in the flavour. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Palate is warming, with some more spicey woodiness. Very pleasant and much more well balanced than other reviews suggest. Cornfield (4980), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2005 This pours a deep copper color with a tall, fizzy tan head. The aroma is delicate, light fruits and some malt sweetness. The hardy ABV is well-hidden, both in aroma and taste. It’s smooth to drink, a spicy cherry flavor with solid malts and some real yeasty fruitiness. Dry finish. Tasty and warming. Pernille (518), Copenhagen, Denmark

Flavor holds quite a bit of alcohol. But it’s definitely a pleasant brew. It’s complex, well balanced and with a fresh note. Not as full and rounded as others. robinvboyer (1444), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Dark orange/ amber pour with a good amount of head and lots of sticky lacing on the glass. Nice yeasty fruity aroma, lots of cherries and apples. Flavor is spicy and fruity, more apples and some subtle hops. The alcohol is a little present but enjoyable. A nice sipping beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 14, 2009 330 mL bottle. Very, very nice colour - copper, which almost looks purple in a certain light. Can’t give it a 5 though, ’cause the head disappeared quite rapidly. Aroma is mild and on the sweet side, with fruit, tea, and a bit of spice. Flavour is good: spice, honey, caramel, and some fruit and anise near the end. Decent bitterness in the finish, some of which may be from the alcohol. Not as full as it could be. Not bad. reakt (938), Greater London, England

This bottle’s from Sainsbury’s. Deep amber with a small off white head. Alcohol is apparent in the nose along with hints of banana, toffee and apples. Spicy taste to match with a salty, bitter edge. Medium bodied and a little flat. Probably my favorite Leffe to date but still a few to go...
