Poured quite clear, brown with a red tinge. Head formed from the pour, white and large, but died back to a lace ring quickly. Aroma was intense, with esters of plums and berries, and a heavy burnt-sugar waft. Taste was similar, balancing the aroma. Candy sugar, burnt coagulated sugars, and esters of dried light fruits filled the mouth and finished with a slightly bitter astringent swallow. The sense of alcohol, though, was overwhelming, with a warming sensation like sherry or port that just didn’t sit right. Still not too bad a drop. MrBunn (1542), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2005 Aroma is strong of cherry and cinamon. Dark color that is still somewhat transparent. Substantial carbonation. Flavor is dominated by cherry and alcohol. Spices are also prominent. Not bad, but ends with a bit of a harsh astringent aftertaste. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2005 Poured from the bottle with a nice off white head that laced the glass. The body was amber and the aroma...you got it, it’s a Leffe. Still can’t really pinpoint exactly what the aroma and flavor of a Leffe is, but it is there in all the ones I tried (Brune, Tripel, Blonde and now this). Slight cherry in the aroma with a sweetness in the flavor that helped set it apart from the other Leffe’s. A slight alcohol taste and burn. anders37 (4760), Malmö, Sweden

A sweet aroma of malt, bubblegum, banana and spices. Some hay, leather and peanuts in the nose too. A sweet, fruity and spicy taste. Hints of metal. Slightly citrussy. A rather well balanced beer with some flowery elements. A complex brew. Some bitterness shows up in the finish which is grassy and buttery. A decent Leffe with a nice lacing.
