| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2004 Pours a fluffy head but disapates quickly. Chocolate brown hue, ever so slightly cloudy. Quite lifted nose with some sweet, spicy almost cinammon notes. Nice mouthfeel, plenty of fizz early but disappears at the back. Fairly sweet palate, thickens a little but nevery cloys. Good length and carries the 8.2% with ease. No heat to speak of. Like the stablemate Vieille Cuvee a sipper (ie one bottle a session) drink but to my mind a better drop. More hops and complexity would be nice... but by no means a bad beer. downender (2587), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2008 Bottle, 33cl. Pours translucent dark mahogany, with short-lived off-white head, some lacing. Cherry, malt and yeast on the nose, and very sweet on the palate, too sweet in fact. A shadow of a beer in comparison to a genuine secondarily fermented beer, and added sugar is no substitute.

Flavour is malty sweet, fruity, a bit spicey. Like a strong version of Palm Speciale. Not my style, too many "amber" flavours.
