The aroma developed as the beer warmed up. Initially just malty, a toffee aroma developed and then some notes that were less pleasant (cheesy, barnyard?). Full bodied with ample, but refined, carbonation giving excellent mouthfeel. The flavour is very complex, but predominantly rich and malty. When cold the initial taste has fruity (maybe apples) hints, passing through toffee / trecale and dark malt to some bitterness in the finish. As the beer warms up more flavour is released with chocolate, cherries, plums and spicyness (cloves?). Excellent beer. frankcolub (49), Ashbury, Australia

Flavours of fruits, roasted malts and some port. Fantastic bitter, warming and long-lasting finish. Gets better when warming up. Re-rate: Bottled a few years old. Very nice aroma, but the flavour and especially the finish is not as good as i remember. Bad bottle or doesn't this age very well? joss (3687), Garching b. München, Germany

Taste is quite unbelievable; I mean I never tasted a beer like this before. Roasted, malty, hop biterness with some herbs. Nice smooth, dry aftertaste. Dredd (496), Ormond, Australia

Flavour is juicy with cherry/berry like flavours bursting out that finish with some dark sugars and mild bitterness. Very nice beer.
