Commercial Description:
Asylum is in the style of a Belgian Tripel. It has a beautiful golden color. Its relatively light body is deceiving for a beer of its character. It has a sweet and spicy, complex fruity aroma and flavor derived from our distinct Belgian yeast strain. Asylum finishes with a subtle, warming character to help you relax on any night. Asylum is an exceptionally smooth Belgian-style brew. Drinking great beer brings the world together. “Vrede op aarde” (Peace on earth).

Bottle. Aroma of spices, a general herbal nature, lots of citrus. Flavor is insanely orangey and seedy, completely overwhelming yeasty notes and malty notes. The spice character tries its best to bite into all those orange seeds, but really to no avail, as the orange becomes increasingly harsh. Not good.

This blonde ale poured with a decent off-white head and a fruity aroma. The flavor is sweet and spicy with notes of candi sugar. The alcohol is too noticeable and the overall taste is not real pleasant.

22 ounce bottle purchased from the Davis Food Co-Op. Aroma is harshly ethanolic with a little bit of light sweet honey. Smells like this stuff could be a good stain remover or something like that. Certainly not a beer. Transparent honey color with a small, lifeless off-white head. This is a trippel? Sweet, fruity, sugary start, which becomes estery with some bananas and then a harsh, dry boozy ethanolic finish. This is not enjoyable at all. Between this and their Hop Juice, I am beginning to think that this brewery is really substandard. If you could imagine a malt liquor with Belgian yeast, then this is your beer.

Bottle. Pours a deep orange with hardly any head. Aroma of sweet citrus fruits, yeast, melon rind, minerals, and light spices (clove). Flavor is initially sweet and tangy, with orange peel and citrus notes. Like drinking a glass of thick, pulpy, super tart OJ with a touch of vegetal notes. Certainly strong and a quite difficult to get through the whole glass. The 11% is definitely noted. 6/4/6/3/12 (3.1/5)

Bottle frim Ron’s. Pours chill hazy copper with 2-finger white head. Nose is rock sugary malt, florals, mils spice and hopcit. Tastes malty, floral, spicy, with some fruit. The repour falls off a bit and gets a bit hot, and the complexity is lacking a bit here.

Bottle. Amber beer with a whitish head. Fruity estery aroma with some yeastiness. Fruit ester and sweet malt flavor with yeast. Medium bodied. Sweet malt lingers with esters. A bit of residual sugar in this one.

great sweet taste in a 22 oz. bottle... the 11% volume gets the job done pretty fucking quick!

Bomber. Yeast, fruits and spice for a decent aroma. Amber body with white head. Flavor was good with some fruit and spice mix. But second glass from bottle man was like medicine spiced cough syrup sludge that was hard to drink. Odd brew almost like there were two different beers in the 22oz bottle.
