Commercial Description:
Here at Left Coast Brewing Co. we pride ourselves on being one of the first breweries to pioneer a Double IPA style beer. In 2003, we brewed our first Double IPA, and haven’t looked back since. This hop monster uses Premium American 2- Row and a touch of light crystal malt to create a solid malt foundation. The recipe calls for hops to be used in every step of the brewing process; in the mash, in a hop back, in the fermenter, and in the bright tanks. We use hop extract, hop pellets and hop flowers, hence the name Hop Juice. Hop Juice spends more than 4 weeks dry hopping in the fermenter and the bright beer tank. It is approximately 9.4% abv and has massive IBUs. Hop usage is over 4lbs per barrel. Hopeheads, step up to the plate! Silver Medal Winner 2004 California State Fair Bronze medal Winner 2006 Great American Beer Festival

Thanks to hellbilly for this one. Pour is a cloudy rust color with a wispy white head. Aroma of citrus and resiny hops. Flavor is very sweet with moderate hop bitterness. A tad leathery tasting(?), but not dry. Medium to full bodied. decent brew.

Pours a brilliant clearish orange color. This beer just looks like hops. Sticky white head, laces the glass. Not too thick. Smells like flowers... Hop flowers baby. Sweet, sugary, caramelly, hop scents like none I have ever smelled before. Tastes of very green hops and fresh grass. A little earthy. Bitterness on the finish. Palate is thick yet smooth for such a large hoppy brew. I would like a bit more carbonation. One of the most different and interesting DiPA’s I have had in a long time. Big and tasty and high alcohol.

Very Well Done!!! Now is the time for all good men to sample great beers. Not justly satisfying the parched tongue, but justly imbibing the taste and aroma and the escence of a nice beer

22 oz bottle from BevMo: Slightly hazy amber with medium, fading, bright white head. Nose is tropical fruit and caramel. Flavor starts rich and tropical fruit sweet with some citrus followed by a light, lingering orange rind bitter finish. Medium body is creamy with soft carbonation. Alcohol well hidden, but sneaks up on you fast.

On tap@O’brien’s served by none other than the Master Brewer Tom Nickel himself: Deep amber color with a huge frothy off white head. Nose is citrus and caramel. Sweet start turning lightly bitter with a long dry lingering grapefruit rind aftertaste. Smooth creamy mouth feel. Alcohol well hidden.

I am confused as well. Is there another name for this. Nice grapefruit aroma. Very citrusy taste. You can taste some malt but it is way overcome by the hops. Very drinkable.

This confuses me because no one has rated this yet, but I am drinking a bottle of Left Coast Hop Juice. 9.6% ABV. Aroma of fresh grapefruit and orange juice. Hazy brownish orange. Thin head. Nice lacing. Hops, Hops, Hops! Some puckering bitterness comes through. Grapefruit, orange, tangerine, Light toasted malt. Some alcohol. Resiny. Chewy. Almost everything I look for in an IIPA. Not as good as Pliny, but damn good! Re-rated after it warmed. Deducted 1 point overall because it is a little hot in terms of alcohol.

On tap at Oggi’s Scottsdale. Clear darker yellow/light amber color with creamy white head. Decent lacing on the glass. Great hops in this one with a citrus and grapefruit aroma. Clean and crisp finish with a huge hoppy aftertaste.

Small white head that thins out quickly with a smidgen of spotty lace. Hazy, orange color. Nose of citrus and crystal malts, mostly subdued. Medium bodied, lightly oily with sub par carbonation. Crystal malts up front with notes of teabag, light citrus and some breadyness. Fairly dry finish, some mint notes. Hmmmmmm, where,s the hops not to mention the juice?? An old bottle? was expecting a bit more from this one. Bomber acquired from SDbruboy, thanks Cliff!
