| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 3, 2007 Deep amber with a hazy hoppy aroma, bright citrus aroma (grapefruit and tangerine) and a fairly wet earthiness. Flavour is earthy and softly citric with grapefruit and chewy orange pith bitterness. The malts are a bit sweet and cloying, but lacking in character. Not really the type of IIPA I go for. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 3, 2007 Bottle: Deep orange copper topped by an off white consistent head. Nose is full of perfumy hops, sweet caramel/slightly oxidized malt and oily hop extract. Very resiny flavor. Not much character, in terms of fruitiness or rich hop depth. Just a piney harshness and an inky finish. Seems like lots of extracts were used. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA

Aromas of grapefruit, fruit, bread. Caramel citrus taste. This is a beer for my sweet tooth. Resinous finish. puzzl (2621), New York, New York, USA

I’m pretty sure the bottle said Left Coast Hop Juice and not Oggis, but, well, Oggis is Left Coast, so I’m just putting the rating here. An interesting beer. At first pour both the aroma and taste had a lot of chocolate, much more than your normal IIPA, and was rich and clean. Hops were mellow and refined, and this was much closer to a hoppy barleywine. That all changed as it warmed and breathed. No longer the same beer at all. Became rough and bitter, with lots of pine. Decent balance. The smoothness all left. This should definitely be drank cold and fresh. Thanks Mike for sharing. drewbeerme (2282), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 28, 2007 22oz bottle thanks to WeeHeavySD. bottle says 9.4%abv. for this! pours a dense glowing orange with creamy white head. the nose is odd, not really that hoppy and almost medicinal, flowery, sweet, alcohol, phenols, and citrus. flavor is sweet with caramel and biscuity flavor along with sweet alcohol and cane sugar but there’s a good level of hop bitterness and fruity grapefruit hop notes. the hops are not really that big but they do add a nice flavor but the hops are underplayed here and not able to balance the sweet alcohol flavor. the malt base doesn’t seem to be that big either. alcohol is noticed in flavor more in sweetness but does warm in the finish. although this doesn’t satisfy the hophead at heart in me this was still tasty. I was expecting an overhopped glass of yard clippings, but what I got was a flavorful, sweet, hoppy treat. Kinda heavy on the tongue, but it washed away nicely with a mild, sweet malty finish. Well done. DaSilky1 (1989), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 27, 2007 Bottled - bronze in color, wispy suds atop. Thick nose of caramelized hops and alcohol. Syrupy thick mouthfeel, alcohol heat...sweet bitter ending...one of those syrupy & heavy IPAs that simply lacks any fresh flavors to balance it out. after4ever (2769), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2007 22. Thanks, Footy! Pours deeply murky coppery dark amber. Thickish sudsy tan/sherbety-colored head. Very forward fruit flavors off the hops: grapefruit and pineapple in abundance. Also a sour note in the nose, maybe a malt thing (acidulated?). Big body, tingly carb, sharply biting forward pine. Fruity/candied mid-palate. Finish is awash in a creosotey nip.
