Commercial Description:
Here at Left Coast Brewing Co. we pride ourselves on being one of the first breweries to pioneer a Double IPA style beer. In 2003, we brewed our first Double IPA, and haven’t looked back since. This hop monster uses Premium American 2- Row and a touch of light crystal malt to create a solid malt foundation. The recipe calls for hops to be used in every step of the brewing process; in the mash, in a hop back, in the fermenter, and in the bright tanks. We use hop extract, hop pellets and hop flowers, hence the name Hop Juice. Hop Juice spends more than 4 weeks dry hopping in the fermenter and the bright beer tank. It is approximately 9.4% abv and has massive IBUs. Hop usage is over 4lbs per barrel. Hopeheads, step up to the plate! glendale location draft...9.4%abv poured into a pint AND only $2...ouch, looks like the wife is driving home...pours an unclear copper color into this sweet $2 chalice. super sweet aroma with hints of grapefruit skin. flavor is every kind of hops;piney, grassy, soapy and citrus all in one but some how manages to be well balanced and not overly hoppy...?(or not hoppy enough) a flavor of sugary apple pie filling gets really sticky as the beer warms up...

Growler courtesy naven. Awesome hop aroma and flavor. What I expect in a West coast IPA.

On tap at Oggi’s Mission Viejo. Everything you would expect from a California Imperial IPA. Tons of hops up front offset by a terrific malt finish. I did not notice the high alcohol until it was time to leave. Very good beer. Next time I would try to get it in a snifter and only have a half.

Draft at Oggi’s, Liberty Station Point Loma. Got a beer mat that says it could be "Left Coast". Strong pine aroma. Dark orange tinged amber color. The white head quickly filmed. Starts with strong pine, a little malt, and a citrus hint. Medium bodied with at least mild carbonation. Heat at the finish. Quite dry finish, and the mouth drips with evergreen oil bitter. Fantastic.

(labeled as "left coast" @ the bistro.)orange body with a white head.aroma is a strange blend of mint and melon type fruits.flavor was much of the same, and the body was thin for a double ipa.strange stuff indeed.

Hand Bottle from growler. Big thanks to cbkschubert for sending me this one. Pours a cloudy orange body with nice head. Aroma is of citrus, tropical hops, big maltiness. Flavor is very hoppy, heavy citrus - grapefruit tones, big sweet malty backbone. Nicely done but the syrupy hoppness may be a bit overdone for me.

12oz bottle hand bottled by cbkschubert - Thanks Craig for the chance to try this one! Pours cloudy amber with a big offwhite head that settles back to a film and laces in sheets. Aromas of big grapefruit and pine over sweet caramel malts. Flavor is pleasantly hoppy as well lots of grapefruit and pine with caramel to balance it nicely.. Good balanced palate and but somewhat resiny and it did lean some toward the hops. Pretty tasty though and enjoyable!

On tap at Oggis. Clear orange amber with creamy white head. Citrus and grapefruit aroma. Pine taste, citrus, clean crisp finish with a hoppy floral aftertaste.
