Commercial Description:
Here at Left Coast Brewing Co. we pride ourselves on being one of the first breweries to pioneer a Double IPA style beer. In 2003, we brewed our first Double IPA, and haven’t looked back since. This hop monster uses Premium American 2- Row and a touch of light crystal malt to create a solid malt foundation. The recipe calls for hops to be used in every step of the brewing process; in the mash, in a hop back, in the fermenter, and in the bright tanks. We use hop extract, hop pellets and hop flowers, hence the name Hop Juice. Hop Juice spends more than 4 weeks dry hopping in the fermenter and the bright beer tank. It is approximately 9.4% abv and has massive IBUs. Hop usage is over 4lbs per barrel. Hopeheads, step up to the plate! (labeled as "left coast" @ the bistro.)orange body with a white head.aroma is a strange blend of mint and melon type fruits.flavor was much of the same, and the body was thin for a double ipa.strange stuff indeed.

Hand Bottle from growler. Big thanks to cbkschubert for sending me this one. Pours a cloudy orange body with nice head. Aroma is of citrus, tropical hops, big maltiness. Flavor is very hoppy, heavy citrus - grapefruit tones, big sweet malty backbone. Nicely done but the syrupy hoppness may be a bit overdone for me.

12oz bottle hand bottled by cbkschubert - Thanks Craig for the chance to try this one! Pours cloudy amber with a big offwhite head that settles back to a film and laces in sheets. Aromas of big grapefruit and pine over sweet caramel malts. Flavor is pleasantly hoppy as well lots of grapefruit and pine with caramel to balance it nicely.. Good balanced palate and but somewhat resiny and it did lean some toward the hops. Pretty tasty though and enjoyable!

On tap at Oggis. Clear orange amber with creamy white head. Citrus and grapefruit aroma. Pine taste, citrus, clean crisp finish with a hoppy floral aftertaste.

Growler from the Mission Valley, SD location - Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a one finger thick off white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is pine, citrus, and grassy hops. Flavor is mosty hops with some light sweet malt in the background. The alcohol is noticeable. Leaves a slight astringent/alcohol aftertaste. Medium body. This is one 2IPA that could use a little extra time to smooth out the edges. Still a good beer.

Via Growler via trade with WestsideThreat. Shared this big hop slamming brew with some old High School pals. Pours amber with a thin white head. The aroma is big citrussy with lots of fresh hops. the taste is sweet hoppy and full of citrus almost as nice as alpine nelson but not quite. Sticky citrus palate. Yum.

Tried at Pizza Port’s Real Ale festival from cask. Great hoppy aroma! Big bubble head (arg!) Slightly cloudy. A bit bitter of course from the abundant use of hops, but still nice. Sweet background. i kind of like it, even though it is a bit bitter for me.

Draft @ Oggis Mission Valley. Ahhhh now we are back to west coast beers. Amber in the glass and slightly hazed, topped with a creamy off-white head that leaves thick lacing. Nice big IPA classic aroma. The flavor finds lemon and orange citrus with caramel background. Medium body and moderate bitterness throughout. Very nice!!
