Commercial Description:
Here at Left Coast Brewing Co. we pride ourselves on being one of the first breweries to pioneer a Double IPA style beer. In 2003, we brewed our first Double IPA, and haven’t looked back since. This hop monster uses Premium American 2- Row and a touch of light crystal malt to create a solid malt foundation. The recipe calls for hops to be used in every step of the brewing process; in the mash, in a hop back, in the fermenter, and in the bright tanks. We use hop extract, hop pellets and hop flowers, hence the name Hop Juice. Hop Juice spends more than 4 weeks dry hopping in the fermenter and the bright beer tank. It is approximately 9.4% abv and has massive IBUs. Hop usage is over 4lbs per barrel. Hopeheads, step up to the plate! Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear amber colour with fluffy white foam. Crisp, dryish, fragrant and fresh hop aroma of lychee, grapefruit, wet grass, pine-needles and orange-peels. Nearly full-bodied with dryish hoppy notes of grass, resin, grapefruit and lemon-zest with undertones of nectarines and caramel. Long dryish and really bitter finish of grapefruit and grass.

Bottle at the Oggi’s Apple Valley location. This brew is a clear dark amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grassy hops, pine and caramel malt. Medium body with a decent amount of piney hops character. Some sweet malt and citrus in the background too. The finish is hoppy with a grapefruit aftertaste. Solid from start to finish.

22oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Pours a brilliant amber topped by big sticky off-white head. Smells very yummy, lots of pine, citrus, papaya, and toffee fill my nostrils. Full resinous hop presence in the flavor. Notes of tangerine, pine, and mango. Very good stuff.

22oz. Bottle. Pours a honey orange color with a thin white head. Nose is heavily floral with pineapple, grapefruit and orange blossoms. It screams hop flavor with every other aspect of the beer subdued and in the background. Tends toward the sweet side with minimal bitterness. Mouthfeel is moderately thin which allows the hops to stand out. Some sweet caramel malt flavors can be picked out from the hop onslaught. Finish leaves a resinous coating on the tongue. Aptly named and one of my favorite double IPAs.

APPEARANCE: Pours a clear gold color with a large white head that dissipates slowly. Lots of sticky lacing. AROMA: Citrusy hops and caramel malt. I get a hint of "orange creamsicle". Expected a bit more for a double IPA. FLAVOR: A little surprised at the flavor, I expected big huge hops and instead found it to be a smooth well balanced beer that finishes with earthy/grapefruit like bitterness. There is a hint of bourbon flavor at the end. MOUTHFEEL: Medium bodied beer with slightly syrupy texture. Soft carbonation. DRINKABILITY: Goes down super easy especially for an Imperial IPA. I don’t even really notice the alcohol and it is 9.4%. NOTES: BBCSD-0901-Geoff

Bottle. Poured a medium -dark amber with a thin head. Big sticky hop nose, with lots of pine and grapefruit. Front is dominated by grapefruit, then the sticky and nice bitter finish comes in to play. More grapefruit flavor than I prefer, but a good solid double.

22 oz. bottle. Poured hazy orange with mild carbonation. Some lacing present. Lots of light citrus fruits and grassy notes dominate the flavor. Oranges, tangerine, lemons, and pineapple all noticeable. Overwhelmingly, almost sickengly sweet. Could use better balance with some added malt.

Bottle. Pours a fairly clear amber, nice, fluffy off-white head. Aroma promised hops, grass and a slight touch of citrus. Flavor is a more subdued version of the aroma, hops are dominant, maybe a touch of caramel hidden in there. Dry and bitter on the finish. Sorry Skourtis !
