Commercial Description:
Here at Left Coast Brewing Co. we pride ourselves on being one of the first breweries to pioneer a Double IPA style beer. In 2003, we brewed our first Double IPA, and haven’t looked back since. This hop monster uses Premium American 2- Row and a touch of light crystal malt to create a solid malt foundation. The recipe calls for hops to be used in every step of the brewing process; in the mash, in a hop back, in the fermenter, and in the bright tanks. We use hop extract, hop pellets and hop flowers, hence the name Hop Juice. Hop Juice spends more than 4 weeks dry hopping in the fermenter and the bright beer tank. It is approximately 9.4% abv and has massive IBUs. Hop usage is over 4lbs per barrel. Hopeheads, step up to the plate! [At GABF 2004] A clear yellow beer with a huge beige head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy, but also with loads of grass-notes. The flavor is sweet grassy combined with sticky caramel flavors. It dries out the mouth, just like eating hops.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of fordest. Hazy, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head. Aroma of peachy hops and caramel. Quite full-bodied with plenty of sweet caramel and fruit. Distinct bitter finish with a solid alcohol burn. 190408

Blind tasting at Papsoes place, another great session, thanks Henrik! Beer #15: Pours hazy orange with a fully diminished white head. Dry pine and woody hops aroma. Flavour is solid woody and hops. Light liqourice note. Ends with a light sweet caramel malt base complimenting the dry and slight liqourice hops note on top.

2009-09-03, bottle at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 8-5-8-4-16=41
Amber color, medium head. The hoppy aroma is excellent, perfumy, fruity and resiny. The body has a medium structure, the mouthfeel lingers between the dry side and the sweet; good toffee flavor, with a sweet nut edge and pleasant spicy touch (black pepper); strong hopping, partially resiny and lightly fruity. The final is hoppy and it shows a sharp pepper character too. Solid.

2009-06-16, draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 8-4-8-5-17=42
Amber color, shining; small head. It has a very nice hop aroma, fruity and resiny. Solid body, with very good, sweet, round caramel and toffee flavor; very strong hopping, scraping the tongue, but leaving behind good piney resins and more orange fruitness than most beers; for what is worth, it can also fall in the category of American Strong Ales for its sweet caramel and toffee flavor. Powerful and excellent.
