Commercial Description:
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a 3 finger tan head that results in chunky lacing The nose is roasted malt, baker’s chocolate and espresso. Taste is roasted nuts, milk chocolate and caramel malt with some black coffee in the finish. Medium mouth feel. Decent porter.

Pours dark brown with tan head. Aroma is malty, light tones of chocolate / cocoa, light roasted nose and some coffee. Taste of light roasted malts with a more prominent chocolate mouthfeel. I could not help but detect what was either light vanilla or lactose that was very reminiscent of their Milk Stout. Overall finish has some chocolate bitterness, became a lot stronger at room temperature. Good beer!

Bottle (12oz). Pours a very deep ruby-brown with a spare diminishing off-white head. Aroma’s roasty along with coffee and chocolate, some nice green hops and fruit too -- it smells great! Flavour of roasted malt with notes of coffee and chocolate -- flavour’s more simple then the aroma, still good though. Average coffee bitter finish. Average bodied. A pretty good Porter indeed.

Bottle poured to glass. Pours a rich brown with deep copper highlights and average off white head. 2 points to appearance because of poor head retention and lacing. Deep roasted notes in aroma and hints of plums. Sweet malty molasses taste and fruity esters followed by a mild hops bitter to attempt to balance. Leans toward the malty side of things. Full bodied brew.

A more complex porter, blending disparte flavors into one. Dark chocolate, molasses, toffe and licorice mix with spicy, earthy and slightly citrusy hops and light peppery esters.

12 oz bottle sitting in the cellar for some time now, likely from the Binnys Singles Rack (Orland Park, IL). Pours a dark brown, dark but clear, with very light brown medium head that laces a bit. Aromas are roasted maltiness, a touch of chocolate, coffee, and a touch of sweetness. Initial is light on the palate, but as you work your way into the brew, becomes stronger. Darker malt and roasted qualities work from light to medium in intensity, moving into a bitter chocolate and coffee body. Finish leaves a nice remembrance in the aftertaste. Light bodied, sessionable.
