Commercial Description:
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

A more complex porter, blending disparte flavors into one. Dark chocolate, molasses, toffe and licorice mix with spicy, earthy and slightly citrusy hops and light peppery esters.

12 oz bottle sitting in the cellar for some time now, likely from the Binnys Singles Rack (Orland Park, IL). Pours a dark brown, dark but clear, with very light brown medium head that laces a bit. Aromas are roasted maltiness, a touch of chocolate, coffee, and a touch of sweetness. Initial is light on the palate, but as you work your way into the brew, becomes stronger. Darker malt and roasted qualities work from light to medium in intensity, moving into a bitter chocolate and coffee body. Finish leaves a nice remembrance in the aftertaste. Light bodied, sessionable.

A surprisingly tasty porter. Solid aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate. Flavor is very good...solid roasted quality...good amounts of chocolate, toffee and coffee. Hops has a subtle presence.

Growler from the brewpub. Pours darkest brown with a medium beige head. Malty aroma of chocolate and coffee. Malty sweet flavor with a bit of roast and alcohol.

Dark brown with a amber undertone. Molasses, roasted malts, and dark chocolate aroma. Lighter body than I expected. A little hoppier than I expected also. Sweet tasting on the front end and a little hoppiness kick on the back end. A little hoppy for a Porter but not bad.

Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a growler. This brew pours dark brown with a reddish tinge around the edges. Medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Milk chocolate and roasted malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, chocolate and mild hops. The finish is light roasted coffee and chocolate with a light hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

Tap. Pours brown with a thin head. Not a thick porter but good never the less. Taste of roasted malt. Not bad.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of dark chocolate, molasses, roasted malt, dark fruit, spice. Tastes bitter and roasty with some nice earthiness, chocolate, lightly spicy. Full bodied mouthfeel. Amazing beer.
