Commercial Description:
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

bottle from Dakine, thanks! Slightly light pour, it’s a dark brown, not so much black. The aroma is intoxicating, lots of chocolate, and some nice sweet malt. But i cant get my nose out of the glass, it’s like smelling chocolate cake, or brownies, i love it! the flavour isn;t as full bodied as the aroma would make you believe. There is some nice malt, and somokiness in the flavour, and the hops come through a tad in the finish. A really decent porter.

Bottle @ Beer Palace, Oslo. Coarse, big-bubbled tan head. Translucent dark brown color with a ruby glow. Sweet nutty and plummy aroma. Whiffs of chocolate, caramel and roast. Taste is tinned dark fruits, fairly dry malts and a well prononced hopbitterness. Medium to light body. Rounded. Fine bitterness in the finish.

12 fl oz. bottle. Dark reddish black colour. Medium-sized off-white head. Gentle malt aroma with some roasted notes, but no harsh notes at all. Very mellow. Hints of licorice and chocolate. More roasted flavours than in the aroma. Sweetish malt flavours with quite a bit of residual sugars. The hops cut through most of this. Nicely balanced.

Smallish beige head. Deep dark red barely translucent body. Sweet malty roasty aroma with chocolatey notes as well as straw and mint. Sweet roasty straw and chocolate taste with milky tobaccoish notes. Fain resiny minty hops. Some licorice. Dryish edge throughout. Taste is long, but there is no separate aftertaste. Quite a good session porter. (0.355l bottle, Beer Palace, Oslo. Brewed 2007-05-01. A bit old. Seems oxidized, so should rerate.)

Dark, solid, chocolate color. Tan head. Beautiful beer. Smells of chocolate. Sweet taste, and super yummy! Thin, but not too thin. Smooth.

draft @ brewery. Pours nearly opaque, small chocolate head. The aroma is very roasty with definite notes of dark vinuous fruits. Crisp and full of flavor. Smoke, chocolate, the dark vinuous fruits are present in the flavor (anis, plum) Finishes with medium bitterness. Really rich and complex. Sweet and full flavored. Very Nice.
