Commercial Description:
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

medium brown pour with red highlights and a small off white head that leaves a small amount behind on the glass. the aroma is woody, creamy and malty with some light chocolate and nuttiness. the taste is very bland... light coffee, cola and pale iced tea like hops combine with a light sourness. thin to medium body...meh...

Bottled - Thanks to reakt for fetching this from Utobeer for me. An almost black beer with a lasting fairly tight beige head. The aroma has chocolate and sweet creamy slightly roasty malts together with a good shot of hops. The taste has chocolate and coffee with more hops, perhaps hints of lemons. More an American porter than a London porter. Pretty tasty.

sometimes you see a rating and say to yourself, self why is this beer rated so low. yes it is a medium body porter, but the sweet choclate flavor comes thur so bold and the smootness of the roasted malts are in near perfect balence with the hops, such a refined taste [nice job brew master] if this were food it would be 5 star. i just recently rated rouge mocha porter in my mind this was better. so for a beer to be rated high it must pour like motor oil look like tar and taste real bitter not in my world. one word fanfreakingtastic a great american porter rock on

12oz brown bottle with born on date. It poured a dark coffee color with a little light penetration; not much head to speak of. Smells of sweetened coffee and malt dominate with a smoky backdrop. All the smells come through on the palate as well. First comes coffee, followed by the malt and maple syrupy sweetness, finishing with a slight hop bitterness. A longer finish than I would have expected, but it’s great. Fantastic balance in this one. Nice smooth beer with medium to heavy body, for a porter.

Silky dark brown with ruby highlights. Ok head. Sweet malty aromas with a touch of roastiness. Smooth and easy to drink. Not too bad.

bottle poured a nut brown with red highlights in color with a good one finger head that pulled back to a tan layer lasting through the whole glass. aroma has caramel malt, dark chocolate, those whoppers candies, and molasses. mouth feel is thinner with good smoothness. flavors come out malted with dark chocolate, light bitters but in a smooth way, nice roast level, and a light hops touch to round it out. finish is a little thin with bitters but does have a smooth coating to the tongue. my first left hand brew and i thought it was pretty good.

Bottle. Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, milk chocolate, nutty, moderate to light heavy hoppy. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Smooth and easy. Body is medium to light, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft. (210108)
