Carbonation is near perfect for this one. Chocolate malt is very obvious (good) and an aroma to match. I recommend drinking this from a Krug....Im drinking one right now....Great beer for the price, $8.79. Also, the head retention is not bad despite what I have read here.....Don’t wash your beer glass with soap gentleman! Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 12, 2007 Rating is a little misleading. If you are looking for a porter this isn’t it. Looking for a decent nut brown? Transparent brown, minimal head. Aroma very nutty, hints of chocolate and roast. Flavor much the same. Medium body, smooth/creamy mouthfeel. Like I stated earlier decent nut brown, but realy not a porter IMO. PilsnerPeter (2667), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 10, 2007 Bottle: Very deep brown in color with ruby in the light, and a creamy/lacing tan head. Has lots of roasted chocolate chip cookies in the aroma, with some bakers chocolate and the slightest hop note peaks through. Has a nice fluffy body. Mildly roasted flavor with a nice chocolate cookie character and a mild nutty hint later on. There are also very subtle hop nuances in the middle when it warms up. Has a smooth finish, and it’s smooth all though out. This is a tasty, easy going Porter. bluevegie (2228), Perth, Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Deep dark ruby red body with with a compact light tan head. Milky coffee nose that has a touch of hops as well. Taste is very smooth, not very full in body, chocolate notes, some hints of liquorice and roastiness. A very good drop just needs a bit more punch. Good Luck Scott!! Check him out at naplesbeerfan. Now for this beer. Part of a six pack sampler of porter from Binny’s of Naperville. Very dark brown, bordering on black. Fullest, creamy white head I have ever seen on a porter. Complex nose, lots of deep roasted malt, burnt chocolate, mocha, raisins, with a slight hint of hops. You really have to appreciate the solid Kent Golding hops in this, perfect for this beer. A medium bodied beer with a lot of character. Well balanced with a clean, somewhat hoppy finish. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Bottle at Chris´s, october 07. Clear, dark, murky color with a small, quickly disappearing white head. Caramel, chocolate aroma with some bittersweet notes. Tart, toasty malts flavor with some chocolate notes. Slightly sour aftertaste. Light to medium mouthfeel, rich with a lingering chocolate aftertaste. Nice, warming porter but a bit dull. mugabe (219), Sweden
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 13, 2007 Bottle. Coal black with thin brown head. Aroma of chocolate and soy. Coffee flavour to start with, then turns into something more flowery, only to finish with a dry creamy chocolate. A bit unbalanced and weird, but till interesting, refreshing and not too heavy.
