Pours a clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a two finger tan head that lasts leaving good lacing. Aroma of fresh malt, roasted malt, caramel, and a touch of smoke. Taste is fresh malt, roasted malt, light caramel, and lightly smokey. Medium full mouthfeel with a well balanced amount of bitterness. Very Good. altonbrownd (1962), Amsterdam, Netherlands

Chocolate taste, milk to darker. Sweet and spicy. Really nice. smartbrewing (7), Amelia, Ohio, USA does not count | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 7, 2007 Smells like a porter...looks like a porter...taste more smokey than chocolatey...has a rougher texture than a typical porter...an average but palatable beer. I think this beer could almost pass as a smoke beer if I didn’t know it was already was a porter. Not a clean finish as described above...the aftertaste liiiiiiiiingers. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Pour was the expected dark brown with some ruby highlights struggling to get through. The head was tan and one-finger tall. Some persistence to the head although it didn’t offer up any lacing. The aroma was fairly muted. Some roasted malt and sugary sweetness came through. The flavor was much better than expected. Roasted malt, chocolate, smoke and possibly some floral hops right there at the finish. A nice example of the style. goozen (1102), Leiden, Netherlands
