Commercial Description:
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

Aroma of dark roasted malts with some smooth chocolate and coffee. Black coloured with a lasting, medium, brown head. Taste is sweet, bitter, roasted malty with chocolate and coffee mainly. Good stuff.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a long lasting tan head that is fed by a stream of carbonation bubbles. Very nice aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor is less distinctive than the aroma with some roasted malt and a bit of chocolate follwed by some hops bitterness. Somewhat bitter and a bit dry at the finish. An ok porter.

Draught in pint glass at Flying Saucer Raleigh. Deep dark brown/black with lasting tan head and lace. Aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate with some bready yeast. Mild chocolate and roasted flavors with clean dry finish. Medium body with very low carbonation make this a fine, sessionable porter.

12oz bottle at cellar temp from table and vine. After trying the milk stout I have to try them all now. This one was black with a hint of red. The aroma is sweet chocolate and coffee. The espresso and hop flavors balance perfectly. This isn’t as great as the Duck Rabbit Baltic, but it does have the same fruity raspberry and anise flavor that comes from the combination of sweet and bitter elements. Left hand is kickass. It might be time for a trip to colorado for some hiking and brewery tours.

Pours an extremely dark brown. Tannish head that actually sticks around for a while, even as it falls. Nose is like mildly scented dark chocolate bits that my mother used to cook with. Flavor is surprising. Smooth and even with a more robust chocolate and roasted bean flavor than I had expected. There is almost a sweet fruit edge to it. I want to say there are very slight cherry hints, but that still might be over-exaggerating. Feel is very smooth. Goes right down. On the end of the liquid feel it seems to get a slight bit watery. I still say it is good though.Very drinkable. A pretty robust porter and one that definitely has enough character to justify trying.
