Commercial Description:
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

Black colored, medium sized beige head. Rich aroma with sweet roastiness, chocolate, caramel and even some oaky vanilla in there. Medium bodied. Flavor is more hopped with sweet roastiness and caramel. Bittersweet aftertaste with some biting hops and berries. Creamy palate. Easy to drinki porter, still very enjoyable.

Dark brown color. Some aroma of caramel and roasted malt. Smooth mouthfeel, based on the caramel, with some roasted malt.

Very nice malt aroma, tobacco and sawdust but in a good way. Dark brown with a small white head. Very thick and foamy. Smoke and metal in the taste, but a good beer! Bit weak finish though.

(Bottled) Very dark brown color with a smallish, lasting head. Aroma of salty licorice, some aromatic hops and roasty malt. Dried-fruity, smooth-malty flavor with salty licorice hints. Medium to full-bodied, smooth-carbonated palate. A smooth and classy stout.

On tap at the Happy Gnome. Cola-ish in appearance, deep brown but almost transparent. Aroma is like ’black cherry’ cola with cream, and weirdly fishy. I taste black olive, prune, and oyster in this...interesting, but not in a winning way, quite. Mildly berry-ish finish that is generically thin and hollow. Not enough roast in this, or chocolate, or nutty flavor...it’s a decent beer, but not a decent porter.

Deep brown appearance with a small tan head and light lacing. Roasted malt aroma; hints of caramel and bittersweet chocolate. Moderately sweet, lactose-like taste, along with some nuttiness. Light to medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel, but the palate was a bit too thin. Short lived, non- descript finish.
