Commercial Description:
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

Very dark red indeed with a huge beige head. Roasted malt and medicinal licorice aroma. Flavour is moderately roasty wiith minor chocolate and aniseed accents. I was left with a feeling of nothing great or distinctive about this one.

Dark pour from bottle. Chocolate, roasted coffee taste with a smooth finish. Another solid effort from LHBC.

$10 / 6er- Wow, little surprised with this one. I’m definitely going against the grain here and rating this much better than average. Nice sweet / bitter balance with good mouth feel.

Petrol Station beer dinner with Left Hand. Pours a dark brownish black with no head. On cask. Nose of chocolate, hops, toffee and mocha. Flavor is the same, with a soft, smooth finish and lingering flavor.

Bottle - Pours brown and clear with a huge cream-colored head. Smells of chocolate with a touch of whiskey, cinnamon, and a touch of booze. Taste is bitter malt and a bit of sour, with caramel and some breadiness. Also a touch of whiskey booze on the finish. It’s a bit watery and thin, but still glass-coating. Weird. Solid brew, but nothing special.

A: Dark and black like a lump of coal. Pours with a three finger billowy head that dies down to a thin sheet covering the top of the beer. There is some lacing left behind. It looks rather nice. S: Not an overly strong smell but what is there is nice. Wonderful roasted malt, sweetness, and a hint of charcoal. T: It has a nice maltiness to it. I taste a ton of malt with a hint of charcoal. There is a mild sweetness about it but there is no real coffee taste evident. There is just a hint of chocolate though. Would like a little more of both. There are better porters out there. M: Medium bodied, a little thin actually there is a nice effervescence about it though. The charcoal quality in the taste helps it to linger a bit.

Dark brown pour with an off white head. Nice lacing around the glass. Smell of yeast and caramel come through. Flavor of caramel, chocolate, and a bit of hops at the end. A very good tasting beer.

Pours clear dark brown with a 2 finger creamy beige head. Aroma is roast, chocolate, light roasted nuts, a little earthiness and planty hops. Flavor is starts of with lots of sweet chocolate, some roast, sweet dark caramel, light hazelnut and planty hops. Finishes with chocolate, roast and a char, nut and mineral water fade. Palate is light ot medium bodied, with a soft, medium carbonation and somewhat creamy texture. Pretty good overall, doesn’t really stick out in any specific way, just a nice, solid porter.
