Commercial Description:
Our latest offering attempts to address an old saying that has plagued mankind since its inception. Many times we've heard, "more is not always better". Invariably the person on the receiving end of such a statement scowls at the ramifications. Here at Left Hand we realize that life cannot be reduced to or understood in absolute terms. Our latest addition to our lineup attempts to take exception with such broad statements about the human condition. Chainsaw is a connoisseur version of our award-winning Sawtooth Ale, designed to befuddle silly generalizations about life. We hope you enjoy!

Beautiful ruby/brown pour with smallish head. Nice aromas come off the top, chocolatey sweetish fruity touches combine with dusty-almost smoky- woodsy pine scents, topped with baked pineapples. The body is firm but supple and yeilds balanced and diverse flavors which begin with an emerging a forest-ish bitterness and transform into quieter and more rounded juicy roasted malts and fruit flavors. Very well balanced and enjoyed.

The aroma is great with vanilla, hops, caramel malt, and butter. The appearance is deep amber. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter finish. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s good.

Dark, murky amber-orange color. Simply beautiful. Smells fruity, perhaps of vanilla. Taste is sweet... mmm... super good! Spicy, sweet, gently alcoholic, gently hoppy, medium body and delicious. I need more...

Pours a cloudy dark copper with a thin head. Aroma of bitter citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon rind) and thick with hops, as well as just a hint of smoky chocolate. Flavor is reminiscent of a good bourbon (Makers Mark comes to mind) with some citrus fruit and resiney hops (and carbonation, of course) added. Big and thick like a barleywine. Very nice, though expensive.

Draft at <a href="http://www.5thearlmarket.com/"> Earl Market in Decatur. Pours amber/copper with a thin offwhite head. The aroma is filled with vinous fruits, caramel and malt, and sticky green hops. There was a little darker malt character in the aroma, too - like a touch of chocolate. The flavor is strong and sweet - mostly caramel and dark malt with some breadiness. There are a good bit of fruity esters and a pungent, fruity hop bitterness at mid-palate. The finish is warming and bitter and lingers lengthily. The mouthfeel is thick and full but lightened with mild suds. There is a light sting at mid-tongue that fades before the finish. Overall, a nice strong ale that is quite similar to an American Barleywine.

Pours dark red/brown with a fine creamy beige froth on top that has excellent lacing. Unfortunately the appearance is the only good thing about this beer. Nasty burnt caramel and rotten fridge fruit aroma, peach and cotton-candy. Burnt caramel and grapefruit flavor, some cotton-candy, really sugary and a mess of a beer. Lots of alcohol and some pineapple. Really odd mouthful, sudsy and grainy. Like one taster pointed out "its like a really shitty barley wine" Split this 3 ways...and I still had to pour it out.
